Doubt the Yorks would hold fire that long, but I agree with the principle.

Remember the whole league fanbase going wax lyrical when steelers signed MSP I dont see much tree pulling up right there.. He’s had a slow start, but it’s early days yet.

Remember the whole league fanbase going wax lyrical when steelers signed MSP I dont see much tree pulling up right there.. I remember a lot of people wanting Ling & Graham sacked during the championship season, they showed up in the end, some players take longer to settle than others, likewise, some settle early and then become complacent as the season goes on. We all know how Shalla started the season....

I'm seriously beginning to think that, if he continues in this form,,Herr may be the best all round forward we have ever signed. He does it all, scores, sets up for others, plays pk and pp. Has any other forward we signed done all four ?

Herr is clearly the best player in the league. He was indeed the signing of the summer. @pidge was right.

Herr’s got what, 60 points domestically this season thus far? That puts him more or less level with top scorers Guptill (64 I think) from last year and 17/18 Perlini (60?) .
That’s in addition to everything else he does on the ice other than actually scoring. If the EIHL had a Selke Trophy he’d absolutely walk it.

Technically the Selke is the top defensive forward.. but he could walk the Art Ross trophy 😁

Herr (I wish Murph would say hair, instead of her (I presume the correct pronunciation is hair?)) is almost certainly the "best" player Panthers have signed in the EIHL era, and is right up there ever, full stop. Scores, assists, great skater, forechecks, backchecks, the ability to turn a game on its head, or create something out of nothing, PP, PK etc etc. The only thing he's not done is have a scrap, but I don't think you can blame the guy. Ling was a master, yes, but by his own admission, didn't pay much attention to the other end of the rink. Herr seems to have it all. Quite why he didn't play in the show, at least for a short while, is beyond me. Especially considering some who come over here who have. Pidge (in company with a fair few others) was right, yes, but the law of averages does come into play here.

I'm struggling to think if we've had a more complete player since 2003..

I still think Jordan Fox is the best all round forward we've had. But Herr is giving him a good run for his money.

Ive had this convo with a mate.. yes Fox was a quality player but i feel he was part of a far better team which in theory would have made his job easier.. Herr time and time again as had to drag his team out of holes single handedly. Hes the best captain we've had since we've been at the NIC for me.

He's good at the whole lot. Obviously he's nowhere near the level, but he really does remind me of Ryan O'Reilly and Patrice Bergeron in playing style. He just does good things on nearly every shift.

Just thank your lucky stars Neilson ain’t still here or Herr would probably be playing on D. 🤣

I'm struggling to think if we've had a more complete player since 2003.. Not in all of the arena years that we have been going. Fox was excellent (REALLY excellent) but Herr is the Rolls Royce version and shades it as far as I'm concerned and goodness we have had some truly terrible C's between the Fox and Herr years and this years team has way more deadwood than the Fox league winning team. Belfast, Cardiff and Sheffield would be already looking to build a team around him for next year.

I really hope Panthers can sign Herr to a longer term contract, but surely someone will be looking at the numbers and thinking that he could easily play in a far higher paying league next season? Here's hoping he likes mushy peas and mint sauce... a lot.
What's interesting is the striking similarity between Herr's and Horvat's CVs, but the at present striking difference between their contributions in a Panthers shirt. Horvat isn't being used to his best yet, I fear. There's surely more to come from him? Again, nice problem to have.

IIRC Herr was wanted back by the Ontario Reign but opted to come here so he could prove himself as an offensive forward as opposed to a 4th line PK player.
He's done exactly that. So surely you'd think that if he already had the AHL interest before coming here, the 60 odd points he's totalled to date.. January 6th, with a few months of games remaining, that's surely going to be peaking the interest even more.
I'd love to keep him long term but I feel we'll only be blessed with his presence for this season.
As for Horvat, I think he has good potential to be a decent powerforward but he will never be half as effective as he could be whilst playing with Lacho and Ollie, no disrespect to Ollie either. Give him Bulmer and Talbot and I think he'd do brilliantly.

I can think of several.

I can think of several. Who are you thinking of? Higher? Or similar but in a different country? Blood's left back for Liiga yes, but he's the only one I can think of? Hedden's left to the ECHL. Riley was a strange selection to TC for the Spengler, but looked a bit out of place, let's be honest. As anyone in the EIHL would in that company. I don't buy the "he plays in Cardiff because he likes the place" line. Money talks when you have a finite career playing. Cardiff have found some very "good fit" players, but are they good enough to play "higher"?

Bobness had a point. The majority of players Cardiff hang onto are all excellent players at east coast level.. Joey Martin being a prime example. They just excelled in this league
