Signedfrom the AHL www.panthers.co.uk/home/190705-herrThe Nottingham Building Society sponsored Nottingham Panthers are pleased to announce the signing of American forward Sam Herr for the upcoming 2019-20 EIHL season. Sam, a native of Illinois, has spent the last three seasons with the AHL's Ontario Reign, an affiliate of the NHL's LA Kings, after joining them upon leaving Notre Dame of the NCAA at the back end of the 2015-16 season. The 214lbs winger has spent the majority of his career employed in a defensive role, taking to the ice to kill penalties or shut down opposing teams top lines but is eager to expand his game on the larger European ice. Director of hockey Gui Doucet says Panthers’ latest recruit has the potential to become a force in the Elite League. “He can be an exciting player for us, he’s a great skater and his actual numbers belie the fact that he knows where the net is. We’ve studied him at length and we’ve had some great reports as well.”

Poor stats but stayed in the AHL for 4 straight seasons so must be something to him?

Signing of the summer so far! Of any team !! That's a stud.. not sure why hes chose to come to the U.K at that age but I ll take it. Great work Doucet and Wallace!

Although Connelly is still the one I'm more excited by. Has great pedigree though and has worn an A in the AHL so that says something about him. His career has a similar pattern to that of Blair Riley so if he can match or better his impact we should all be very pleased

He looks decent but I wouldn’t saying signing of the offseason personally, Vallerand to Steelers for me You're basing that on what he was like for Coventry years ago.. panthers thought they were getting 40 goals from hurtubise last year after his caps exploits.. yeah ok

Vallerand would be our best player and that’s a guarantee

This is a great signing, either 1st or 2nd line LW for sure. He had his best year in the AHL last season in terms of points produced, he looks like a leader considering he was an assistant captain last year and he’s not afraid to stand up for his teammates going off some of the clips on YouTube.
It’s over a smaller sample but as a comparison Blair Riley produced 0.24PPG in the AHL, Herr has produced 0.21PPG. If Herr can emulate anything similar to Riley then we’ve got a top player on our hands. Welcome to Nottingham Sam!

I can't believe were even comparing Vallerand to this guy!
Don't get me wrong, this guy has to apply himself to the cause but potentially he's come here in his prime with his best years ahead of him.

Who would you say is the league signing of the summer? If Riley signs with the Devils then that is the signing of the summer 100000%

Really happy with this one, think it really signals our intentions for the roster even if the Brit pack is a bit thin May challenge this year may not, but the change of ethos is most welcome, looking forward to a new more exciting style of hockey at last

The numbers just arent there. Perlini has better NCAA number as do tonnes of guys in our league. Kevin Henderson has 50% higher ppg in the AHL. Im sure he'll do a job for us but i doubt he'll turn out to be a stud. I have him at sumit like 0.6 ppg. Not convinced the the recruitment so far at all.

Yeah I agree with this, I thought we’d be signing a few higher profile names based on Wallace and Doucet’s experience

If Riley signs with the Devils then that is the signing of the summer 100000% not at all, Riley is a very good player in this league but he isn’t the best, good poach tho. I think devils resigning Linglet was huge! That might be it for me so far.

Yeah I agree with this, I thought we’d be signing a few higher profile names based on Wallace and Doucet’s experience Theres potentially 4 more top end guys to come in. We have a young side unlike cardiff and Sheffield who the majority are the wrong side of 30 and on a downward spiral now where their best days are behind them. I'd rather be signing players near their peak.

The players Cardiff and Sheffield have signed are established players we haven’t really signed an established player apart from maybe Connolly and Matheson
