What to say. We have to accept this. Though I still would appreciate a 2 home and 2 away for 36 games and a greater emphasis on the playoffs.

What to say. We have to accept this. Pretty much, yes... If the Challenge Cup was also beefed up a bit - and confined to the very early part of the season with the final being no later than December - then possibly...

36 would be too low for me, teams need a certain guarantee of income and you don't get that with a longer playoffs.
Without knowing the ins and outs, looks a sensible decision to reject a rush job in MK.

36 would be too low for me, teams need a certain guarantee of income and you don't get that with a longer playoffs. Without knowing the ins and outs, looks a sensible decision to reject a rush job in MK. I'm going on every game being a 'must win' and so a nights real entertainment of a clash. No going through the motions. We watch the premier league football with this kind of number in their schedule and our bonus is that we get twice as many visits against each other. But that's the other point in that we play the same team in the same tournament far too often. The fact we'd play more than football is the obvious of fewer teams, so it's a middle split. Fewer teams yet greater the amount of play. We can't get away from the fact that we are a minor sport and attracting teams at equal strength is difficult. The Aussie rules football has a similar number of teams as our football league but play once home and away I believe and then a Play-Offs like my interest for us to do also. Play another set of games in that Play Off according to where you have finished and that number of games added to the league round robin will make your seasonal quota. In fact the Challenge Cup could do that and any drop out teams wouldn't be any less out of the frame as regards finance just that the more successful teams would get a few extra games under their belt. Just need a few clever heads around it all. At worst , if we have good relations with teams regards coming up from another league why not have the losing play-off sides play these 'other' teams in an end of season series to act as a filler or something similar.

Planet Ice decide to thicken the plot further with this just released statement:
“Planet Ice would like to take this opportunity to express its disappointment with the Elite League and their decision to refuse the granting of a licence to the new Milton Keynes consortium for next season onwards. As a result, Planet Ice will be reviewing its future relationship with all Elite League teams operating from it’s buildings and an official statement on their decision will be released after 5pm on Friday May 10th.
Heath Rhodes Chief Operations Officer for Planet Ice”

Gives the EIHL 2 days to come round to Planet Ice's way of thinking. Watch this space presumably.

Lose their teams the league is on 8 teams and that's IMHO barely viable. Lose 1 or 2 Scottish sides and the house of cards comes tumbling down.

Toys out the pram? Threats to Elite.
Nice for all their fans who have generated cash flow for them all these years. If I were told we're pulling YOUR team out because our other team has been refused entry to Elite. I'd tell them I might just think about not coming again.

Planet Ice are a bunch of cheapskates who should wind their neck in until they maintain their rinks properly.
What about the state of Blackburn's ice? - need to sort out the holes in it and the ski jump.
Isn't most of one side of Basingstoke's rink still cordoned off? - after how many years?
Just ask the fans of teams based at Planet Ice rinks... if you have several hours to spare listening to the long list of complaints...

Don't forget that Planet Ice also sold MK after getting them in the EIHL as they didn't want to run the team.

Someone who knows a lot more about it than I do posted the following on Facebook:- And still the power is with Planet Ice. If you take away the teams ice where do they go? They can't participate and the league loses teams leaving an already weak league even weaker. It will be interesting to see what happens here hopefully Planet Ice back down and we can carry on.

I've seen these remarks on Facebook too. Has this point been made to Planet Ice how this may be what effects there submitted plan? I want to know what Manchester and Coventry think about it? Have they spoken with Planet Ice and said how annoyed they may be. Supporting the Elite? Surely a legal position rides with the Manchester/Coventry teams, that just because Planet Ice has issues with a league on one part - it can't justify their threats which affects these customers of theirs.

what happened to the london team everyone was convinced was happening a couple of seasons ago? What do you think? - people being convinced (without any actual hard evidence) that an ill-defined pipe dream is a solid reality... well, that's unprecedented in this country - not!

You're being unfair there. We all know it's a couple of years away. The problem is its been a couple of years away for as long as anyone cares to remember.

So how long is it before either The Panthers join a Euro League or some Euro teams join The Elite League?
I believe at least 1 of them will happen

We've already had Tillburg apply for the EIHL. With regards to London though, when the KHL interviewed Charles Linglet last month a KHL team in London was mentioned again, though as speculation. But the fact there is still whisperings about it going on, and the supposed London EIHL team is taking so long makes me feel there may be some ground to the suggestion of a London KHL team and it'll be a case of no EIHL team until they know for sure what's happening with the KHL.

Stop being held to ransom by anybody and everybody who doesn't get their own way. Id prefer the former as you'd have thought the standard would be better. Ive thought it more possible than others for a long time as I believe if you join a good enough one there will be significant increase in sponsorship revenue. I dont really care if the boards and ice are covered in Russian or German advertising if the standard of hockey is good. Of course I'd like to see Sheffield, Cardiff and Belfast come with us(perhaps a conference to keep costs down a little at least). Sadly I cant see it happening though. For that to happen the egos in charge of said clubs would have to relinquish a lot of power and control. Therefor the latter is far more likely as they can continue to do whatever they chose.

The delay on a London team is down to the work needing done to install ice plant piping at Wembley. It can only be done when the venue has no events on, which is not very many weeks in the year. 4-6 years were the last projections I was told when work started, so something by 2021/22 would be about right.
