O’Connor has been woeful today. Swindlehurst not far behind. Collectively our worst performance of the tournament to date by a fair distance. Unlike the previous 2 games it’s difficult to take any positives from this one. Second long period of 5 on 3 down to Swindlerhurst this game, and another 2 conversions on it. The DOG penalty the first time may have been unfortunate, but interference after 4 seconds of the first pen? Oh well, have to hope France get blanked and we can give them more of a game than this has been on the last day.

I'd have long playing on one leg than see some of the feeble offense at present!

Oh well, have to hope France get blanked and we can give them more of a game than this has been on the last day. Exactly right. The incredibly frustrating thing is that we have already seen them play massively better than this... exactly why this 'performance' has been so dire is beyond me. But... we've seen bad performances before followed by great ones, so... <shrugs> who knows?

America, Finland & Slovakia
Then the potential relegation decider against France provided they don't pick up any more points until we meet

Is everyone looking forward to a 17 year old with a face cage running rings around us tomorrow?

We were awful today. Looked like the Panthers team from last season, simply had no togetherness at all.

We are a pool B team in pool A, our guys are knocking their socks off trying to win, but the opposition is just to big. We watch our clubs bolstered by 15 imports, GB don’t have that luxury, in the close season we have a builder, a van driver etc etc. 3 Games in 4 days against vastly superior opposition is going to kill you physically, The opposition don’t have to skate around like headless chickens as they have all the skill, but we do, and that’s a killer. Our lads have left everything out on the ice, they are trying big time to punch above their weight, but against this class it ain’t going to work, but A+ for trying.

I mentioned before the worlds started than that fatigue would be huge and the GB are generally not as fit as the other nations .. people say the France game is the one they are targeting .. hello there will be nothing left in the tank by next Monday after 6 games already! Now you're saying they are looking tired And I didn't see much effort today trying to get a win certainly not compared to their work rate on Saturday! The general populas now see just how far behind other nations GB are and its frightening.

I knew GB were light years behind world elite hockey but this took the pee! How so? Compare how long and how many players Denmark has been putting into the NHL in contrast to GB and you'll have your answer. There was only ever a slim chance of getting something from them, and when we kept things 5 on 5 they coped at times. The ill-disciplined start dried up any potential for an upset, and in the end too many players had an off day, we can't afford even 1 player at this level to have an off day.

I switched off early in the 2nd, that was painful.
I honestly thought that we could win this one or run them really close. But I didn't expect that.
This one has certainly shown that we are out of our depth but we earned the right to be there and playing these teams should hopefully benefit the team (Experience wise)
We should maybe now not to expect much from the France game but you never know.
If we do get relegated, I fully expect promotion back to Pool A and if they do, maybe they will be more battle hardened.
A lot of maybes but whatever happens, I am happy, we are in this group right now

If relegated. The return would still be a stiff ask. But I'm hanging onto a victory over the frogs. You have to hang in there and hope.

I can certainly see Whistle getting a start soon, Bowns needs a break. For me, I would start Whistle for the U.S.A. game and the 1 before France.
Unfortunately it certainly appears that all the games other than France are write offs.

not sure what people expected The Danish team have for example Lars Eller and Nick Jenson two really brilliant NHL’ers agreed we could have played better but to put this in a football context we are like Basford playing Barcelona , full of energy we would struggle let alone a team so fatigued , we need a bit of realism , it was a hell of an achievement getting to these finals but we were never going to beat teams with NHL greats in them

We will be at the end of a tiring schedule after playing the top level teams in our group. France have been at this level for 12 years now, are fast fluid skaters and will run rings our defence unfortunately. Our players have earned the right to play at this level however it is one step too far for our program in the grand scheme of things.

We knew well in advance that the whole thing - including the game vs France - would be an uphill battle. Granted, none of us expected that abysmal showing vs Denmark, but that's what happens sometimes. Just don't give up before a game has even started...
One minor advantage for the France game... they play the day before, GB don't.

You may have known of the uphill struggle against France Shaggy but many many people seem to believe it was a realistic game to win. This is maybe because the EIHL and french league are comparable but as national programs and top players they aren’t. There’s been a lot of naivety from fans leading into this tournament in my opinion. I’m looking forward to seeing us against USA today to hopefully gain some sense of redemption after yesterday. I’m very proud to see us at this level despite us being behind the curve.
