Just a mention on Team France . Its just been announced and its pretty useful.
This squad ran Russia close, beat Switzerland, Latvia and Italy, and has a ton of elite WC experience so its unlikely GB will be taking points off them

Literally cannot believe how cynical some people are about even their own national team. Why can't we just go and enjoy the tournament for what it is?!
On another note, as someone who got to 0 games this year, please can someone explain to me how a 60 point player like Ciaran Long doesn't make the GB squad?

I don't think any GB fan is sat depressed or upset at our chances for the tournament, or seriously raining on anyone's parade. It's British nature to partake in self-deprecating humour. Everyone is excited for the Championships, I can't wait to watch each game and I wish I could've gone over to Kosice to watch in person. It's going to be an awesome couple of weeks. It's only being realistic to discuss other nations teams and how we may suffer at their hands. But again, everyone wants GB to do well and I'm sure everyone will enjoy the games regardless of score line. Whether it is 5-0, 10-0 or 20-0, nothing will stop the majority of us from being proud of GB.

I will enjoy the tournament. Its great that GB have achieved the promotion to elite status but I will be looking forward to watching all the games and the superstars on show and not have to watch them in the early hours like usual lol

Anybody know if it's broadcast in HD anywhere? Plenty of games appear to be on Freesports aswell as GB. I have Sky so it's not HD.

Well if that Switzerland score is anything to go by then Great Britain could be in for a bumpy ride, ouch.

Really good effort from the boys so far, lots of defending but don’t look totally out of place. Very proud so far.

Got excited with 10 minutes to go. Great effort though always chasing of course. The best hope was a tie at 60 minutes.
Hope you recorded it Shaggy (drummer boy), your definitely in there on the close up.
Next game please.

Why isn't Brendan Perlini involved? I wondered that before. He would be a great addition!

Why isn't Brendan Perlini involved? He didn't play his junior hockey here and represents Canada

A great effort today, there were times there that Germany were a little rattled and at 1-1 we had a couple of looks to take the lead.
Ultimately a fair result but we gave them a scare.
I do fear tomorrow, Canada had a rest day today and we worked our backsides off for 60 minutes today.
I suspect period 2 and 3 will be very long ones from a GB perspective tomorrow.

I've been thinking how best to put this without sounding like i'm being critical of the team because that certainly isn't my intention.
Untimately just getting to this level was awesome im its own right and todays perforance was fantastic, a 3-1 loss was better than most would had predicted. However, after holding Germany for 50 minutes I think the players may be a little dissapointed. Fantastic energy and commitment levels throughout but to let it go the way they did will probably burn a little. A couple of minor errors lead to the last 2 goals rather than it simply being brilliance from a better team. In some ways an 8 0 pasting from an obviously far superior team who just outclassed the team would have been easier to take.
A bit of a shame, but they need to dust themselves off and utilise the confidence they can take from such a great performance agaisnt a top side and tell themselves that if they can do that against France and Denmark then they could get something.

Not being harsh. It was me who had fingers crossed for 'at least' the regulation to be a tie and still be there with France. We were there or there about for the chance to have done this even if Germany were by far the better side. It's the results that we are looking for however we may be able to snatch them. Playing superb and losing is not the end product we want. To play and win well would be nicer.
