So Gagnon to Storm... what are we getting folks? He's an upgrade on Springer for me. Tough as nails but not a shabby hockey player either. Prone to taking a daft penalty in the closing minutes though.

Bowns displaying tonnes of ambition I see. I hope i never see anyone say hes a great nettie hes just decent for this league..
And they wonder why Brit players will never test themselves abroad and I donr mean for 1 season either.

If you had listened to the interview you’d see that he had an offer in Europe but decided against it due to commitments in Cardiff. He also said it’s a dream to play in Europe so next season he may not be in Cardiff. I’d bite anyone’s hand off to have Bowns at the panthers. He also proved himself to be a quality Nettie in the Wc

He will be 29 next year I think. Time is running out for him, the better leagues go for younger guys.. if he was committed with his own career he would drop his commitments in Cardiff etc. That's what brit players always saw... commitments yarda yarda .. it's their way of saying they dont want to risk it... we've seen it times what's the longest time a brit player has left this league to try and become better?
And how can you say hes the best in the league when Notts, sheffield and Beldast haven't signed theirs yet and with talk of Danny taylor coming here Bowns wont be the best brit nettie never mind the best one 😉😂

Clearly he is British but did he play any junior hockey here do you know?

He started his career in Canada according to EP Yeah I saw that but didnt know if they always listed the younger years. Those records show from him being about 16. So if he played junior hockey in the uk from say 6-14 would he still be a Brit?

Taylor was born in Plymouth but wont count as a brit as he was N.A. trained and I believe he played U20 for Canada.. if he signs over here and plays 3 years I'm not sure if he can qualify for the GB team though

Its normally 2 years, but because of playing for Canada he needs 2 extra.

Very easy for all of us to say when it would be him taking all the risks. In Cardiff he has a mortgage, family, a job he clearly likes, which is pays well enough for his needs and clearly doesn’t think now is the time to leave. Why should he be give all that up for what he believes wasn't the right offer? If it was indeed a rumoured offer to Denmark, then it isn't any lack of ambition, as he would still face better players here, along with playing in the CHL again.

There are millions and millions of people in jobs all over the world who 'Settle'. By that i mean, they are happy in their job, could possibly move up/achieve more but choose not to. Being a sportsperson is no different really, it's just a job. Take me for example, I am 50 now. Never been out of work since the day I left school. I earn enough for me to enjoy my life, have travelled Europe, USA and Canada at least 30 times. My jobs haven't been amazing , just enough for me to have fun. I want to be home, I want to be close to my family. I personally don't see a problem with that. We are all different though.

I totally get you but I think this situation is slightly different as according to bowns himself he wants to play abroad, surely he's had offers in the past 5 years? But then on the other hand listening to his interview with Devils you can see why he didn't go this time. Personally I don't care whether brits stay or go abroad its up to them.

As usual, no "real" signing news. We all know it's the "Panthers way" to drip feed the startling news of re-signing their Brits but what is happening on the import front ? The differences between the Panthers and the Clan in the way they keep their fans informed is like night and day allowing for the fact that they have the same owner.

Must admit that with the signing of Davies that Steelers roster is looking streets ahead of last years. Although can't really say i like the sound of Matheson actively helping who is now a rival sign high end players by referencing them as the no.1 place to play in the UK if that statement is to be believed

Schiestel going to Blaze is a real surprise, a very good pickup for them.
