I could live with it being Bulmer. PPG last year, played at a good level beforehand. Adds size too. Is that some ITK Pies? Same person who told me about Chris Stewart signing before he did. Frankly, no one has got a single guess right apart from Pidge and Quist so far so I could be way off. Also been told we’ll announce the defenceman on Friday as well. Let’s see if I’m two for two

I would have loved him to sign for us if we still had 2 or 3 forwards to sign, I feel we need a absolutely quality addition onto the top line. He’s a proven 25 goal scorer in this league who played NHL and is only 27....he fits in completely with the mould of what this team is about for me so far. He was also point a game in the league and was in the top 20 points scorers and 14th best goal scorer in the league...he also got 106 minutes - these stats are exactly what I’d want us to go for If I’m being totally honest I’d rather have guptill, no stupid penalties and can fight if needed. Plus he is actually a incredible goal scorer. I can’t understand panthers fans sometimes😂 we have been crying out for a legit goal scorer since DaB (or arguably Doucet put my point still stands) and we get a top goal scorer and not many want him back.

Depends... 26+31 in 57 games (exactly 1ppg) is far from shabby... and do we think that with the roster we've got, it could help him to create more than that? If the answer is 'yes' (and I have absolutely no clue either way) then I'd say he could make a serious impact on the scoreboard, never mind along the boards! I’d also rather take Rasmus Ahlholm but that’s wishful thinking.

DAB and Guptill shouldn’t be uttered in the same breath for me. Beau legit went to war for this club. Got hacked, slashed and got up every time. When things weren’t going Guptill’s way, his head dropped and he got lazy. It says a lot when no other Elite league club has picked him up either. Bulmer would be a better option in the team - Guptill is a mercenary who only cared about himself

Just seen that Lukas Lunvald had been released by Manchester, strange bit to announce he can now sign for another EIHL club as if they know he is.

But guptill won us games on his own last season, also played with Lachowicz and betteridge for a while... still at 40 goal scorer. And scoring seems to be what we are lacking at the moment. His effort wasn’t there, everyone knows that, but when was the last legit goal scorer for us like that? IMO Bulmer isn’t what we should be going for. We need a top goal scorer. As I said before, I would have loved Bulmer if we had 2 or 3 slots to fill.

Top bloke too

I see what you're saying, and you have something of a point... the big problem with Guptill though was that he went AWOL too much... and we want a roster that doesn't do that at all, don't we? Having one highly-skilled 'prima donna' who only turns up when he feels like it... that could risk the whole team ethos and kill the dressing room. "Could", not would, I hasten to add... but I'm not sure that I'd like to take the chance. Of course... what we don't know is why Guptill was so inconsistent last season... was it something to do with the coaching, and the new regime could inspire an upgrade in effort out of him? We just don't know... (That's kind of what I'm hoping for from Rheault, if truth be told...)

Top bloke too I didn’t say guptill was better than DAB once, I said we haven’t had a goal scorer like guptill since DAB. No doubt DAB was better, but we lack in goals yet no one wants possible the best GOAL SCORER! (Not player) since DAB. I don’t understand it 😂.

Also not many if any of the team got along with Cherno at the end. But my point is if most of us think we lack goals why not bring back a top goal scorer? I understand he is lazy but so was ling.

Being a big goalscorer is a plus... a MAJOR plus, if we're honest! But if (and that conditional cannot be stressed enough) if that individual performance comes at the cost of damaging the team as a whole... is it really worth it?
To make any proper judgement, we need to know more - we need to know why there was the downside to Guptill - and if it can be fixed. If so... oh yes, grab him back - no question!

I think he was a lazy player who doesn’t like defending and he had a poor team around him and a coach not many liked. Also Strachan isn’t good enough to be a coach at this level. There could be more but I honestly think after watching him for the whole season that that’s all it was. I could be wrong of course.

Bulmer looked a good player from what I saw last year, I’d be happy with him as a second liner at Panthers. But what you have to remember is he was Fife’s top go to guy last year so would have played a lot of minutes on basically a three line team. Would he get so much ice time at Panthers so the stats might be affected ?

Yeah you did say that, in fairness.
Pies middled it straight out the park though. These are the standards we now expect.
You can save yourself with this spare defenseman.
