If that's the case then not moving him to coach when Chernoclue was booted is utter madness IMHO On the contrary... to shove Henderson in at the deep end straight after booting Chernomaz would have been insane. Bringing in a rookie coach halfway through the season? Talk about setting him up to fail. Starting a coaching career has got to be one hell of an effort at the best of times, being shoehorned in halfway through the season to try to clear up a mess at the same time? Virtually impossible. Much more sensible to give him a full off-season to recruit, plan and otherwise prepare. Other proper (as in not entertainment industries) sports manage it. If I had been Henderson I would have jumped at the chance the same as Solskjær did in Manchester. Stand up on your back legs and see if you can make a change. He's been there long enough to know everyone and see what's going on. I am not convinced he is the new coach but if he is and then just back peddle on the remains of a bad season he doesn't sound the right guy for the job anyway.

One of my biggest worries about Henderson as player coach apart from his lack of experience is whether he’d cut all the dead wood from this squad as they are his friends.
