Heard a rumour today. Kevin Henderson to be player/coach Gui Lepine and Chris Stewart to be player/assistant coaches Rick Strachan to return as assistant coach Olsen and Rissling returning Hughes is wanted for next season Billingsley to leave Hurtubise is wanted for next season Guptill to leave Oh dear, let's hope these rumours are incorrect then.

I'm guessing this is a different Munson to the one we have playing back up?
There's no way he is ready to be a starter.

Strachan is far more than head coach/Panthers employee - He is a personal friend of the Black family. He will have a job here for as long as he so wants it. Personally I would not have had him back this season & I would also hope he's not here next season. Though sadly like some others I think he will be.
It's time to let Strachan go and focus on his other business... Which I would certainly wish him the best of luck with that.
Those who thought it was just Chernomaz that was the problem & that Strachan would be the saviour have very quickly had a very rude awakening...

Strachan wasn't good enough as a player here back in the day either...

Not necessarily... (all of this assuming that the rumour has any basis in reality) Maybe Henderson wants to start coaching after the season has ended, not come in at the tail end of a losing season - bit of a grimy start to a coaching career. Maybe Henderson wants to finish the season just as a player, not having to think about coaching stuff. Maybe Strachan's contract has one or more clauses in it that would cause a problem (eg: as assistant coach, he automatically takes over from departing head coach unless he chooses otherwise) Etc...

You can fill that in yourself, I'm sure. There's not much room for doubt.

Get rid of rick and appoint Henderson now. Yes. Why wasn't Henderson appointed at the stage they gave it to Strachan. Didn't want to be positive and wanted to avoid ruffling feathers? All these alterations and ideas for next seasons 'next era' need to be quick for some supporters before considering a ST now but I guess the ST numbers will still be a propaganda tool as always.

I see Hendo is on the radio yet again tonight. This is becoming so regular now surely he’s almost a shoe in for player/coach next season.

Isn't he assistant coach at the moment, or something?

Latest one that I heard was that Chris Stewart wants to start a coaching career and thinks that the Panthers would be a perfect place to start. Make of that what you will...

From what I’ve heard it is a done deal It certainly looks that way. No doubt we’ll have an announcement about dozens of CV’s to be sifted through before we announce him though. 🤣

Bringing in a rookie coach halfway through the season? Talk about setting him up to fail. Starting a coaching career has got to be one hell of an effort at the best of times, being shoehorned in halfway through the season to try to clear up a mess at the same time? Virtually impossible. Much more sensible to give him a full off-season to recruit, plan and otherwise prepare.
