That was needed in more ways than one, certainly a most enjoyable game.
Thought Stewart had his best game, and it certainly like the players were up for it as were the fans, it was loud.
I thought that the refs had a good game until the 3rd where the common complaints reared up again.
The team battled and got the win in regulation.
Please don't let this be a false dawn, play like that against the other teams and hopefully we should get some comfortable wins.
Need to see Garnett's save at the end, couldn't get a good view of it.
The only negatives was that Cardiff had far too much time in our zone and got off too many shots for my liking also I wish that they can clear the zone when on The PK. But they held firm until the end when I'm guessing most were expecting a late equaliser.
Also I believe that if you pull your Goalie, then it negates all Icings.
I'd rather have a hard fought win than a laboured one

Rissling did nothing to deserve a game......5 for fighting and maybe 2+10 at worst. What did the 2 or 3 Devils players who jumped in get as soon as Ulmer got battered ? From what I could see (refs weren’t mic’d up) they basically took it as everyone jumped in, so let’s leave it at that. Ulmer was on his knees getting a battering, the line-o has fallen on his backside so they went in to protect him, rightly or wrongly. Unfortunately neither I nor the commentators heard the call on Rissling because there was too much booing. Did ask whoever runs Panthers’ twitter, but didn’t get a response. According to the game sheet Rissling somehow got.... 5 for fighting 2+10 fighting aggressor Game for unsportsmanlike conduct Err how and why ?

This isn’t what the Panthers twitter tweeted. If you care to look it is at 48.36 on their twitter. The info I posted is from the Official Elite league game sheet, that I believe is supplied from the off-ice game officials.....or is Panthers Twitter better ? Well you didn’t say that to start with did you? Your tone is probably unnecessary.

I have no idea if that works to put the tweet on here... It does. That’s what I was looking at Sorry but that looks like Mosey’s shoulder to me. Just because it’s lights out doesn’t mean Rissling hit his head,Mosey’s head hits the ice so that’s what could have knocked him out.

There was no extension of elbow/arm from Rissling, no charging, nothing. Mosey had his head down, Rissling is taller than him... Physics then ensued. I’ve watched the replay several times (twitter seems to have it in quite a few places). There is a movement of the arm upwards after the hit. There is also the fact that if you are making a blindside hit, the onus is on the hitter to make sure contact isn’t to the head. Years ago you may have gotten away with “I’m taller than him, what can I do?” But that clearly isn’t the case anymore. I’d expect Rissling to get a suspension for it, but that would involve DOPS doing something. And I think they’re on holiday. Ok, you have me convinced. Ban him forever & every Panther player, coach & fan in the arena. You'll never get Iggy & I though. Muhahaha.

The calls were Rissling 2+10 instigator, 5 and a game fighting. Ulmer 2+2 leaving the bench, 5 and a game fighting. The games were presumably for fighting when play was long dead.

Well....
You just have to take that game in isolation and enjoy it for what it was(I would have posted it before the end of the game had I not enjoyed it so much). A fantastic game of hockey win or lose. If only we could see that even 75% of the time. Proves what we can do. Cardiff wanted that win and we were good enough to beat them(that can of worms is for another day).
The game was a nothing game for us and was still the best game of the season.

Amazing what people can see when they have an axe to grind.
It’s like the Dead Sea round here.

Rissling gets jumped & he's the instigator?
Right...
Ulmer's getting a ban for leaving the pen box & maybe 'Lordo' as well for 'bench control' or whatever it's called.

Pulling your goalie changes nothing on icings. That’s why you try and get over halfway before shooting.

Filthy hit by Rissling;he will sit out a few for that one......... Its shoulder to shoulder - Mosey is moving at pace and looking at his skates, generally not a good idea when you're cutting towards the middle of the ice... EDIT: As a player you're accountable for your own safety as much as the player potentially hitting you is, Mosey's speed has always been as much a liability as an asset to him having watched him during his tenure as a Panther

Stef has been on Twitter and said he dropped a clanger and it wasn't an instigator call. Which makes more scence. Excessive roughness for continuing to hit the guy on his knees. Very much a sign of modern hockey that that is a penalty at all but at least understandable.

Just got home and watched the video of the hit. Rissling has his arms by his side, his feet do not leave the ice. Genuinely find the outcry from South Wales a bit OTT. If bans are going to get handed out for open ice hits like that, then we may as well go full on zero contact.

Rissling hits mosey initially in the shoulder, mosey has his head down, the fact of speed, weight and height come in to play. The hit was at speed, Rissling is about 3 foot taller and about 30kg heavier so the hit is always going to cause damage. It’s the movement of Mosey’s head after the collision which causes the issue, if the head rapidly moves during impact it can lead to a loss of consciousness and that wouldn’t have been helped by his head bouncing off the ice either. Knowing the EIHL Rissling will sit for a few games and Ulmer will receive no ban and they will also award Cardiff 2 goals and give them the win and knight Andrew Lord.

Really good game, should stick em on YouTube every week Blacky. Funny how we match up so well against Cardiff though, is it just a Team Hollywood thing? They've all been close games, however bad we've been elsewhere. It's all a bit odd. But like Baggy says above, just have to take a good game in isolation these days and enjoy it for what it is. No idea if that was a dirty hit, can't even tell from looking at that replay. Best wishes to Mosey though, he was clearly concussed. Good to see some rough stuff, was like the old days, was hoping for a line brawl tbh

I’m sure I can track people down, though I’ll likely be very conspicuous on my horse. I don’t know how to post pictures on here, but I’ve tweeted the picture that makes me think it was contact to the head. Still deserved to lose the game though.

Got a free ticket tonight and had zero expectations... thank you for proving me wrong lads.
Really enjoyable game. Stewart showed why he played in the NHL, good passes and good weight of passes. He looks like he cares which is good to see.
I really hope this isnt a one off. We were far from perfect but that was so much better. Garnett take a bow, not your biggest fan but thats why you clocked so many games in the KHL. Great positioning all game. The call on the line was 100% not in, i was in line with it.
I need to see a HD replay but my initial reaction was that the Mosey hit was clean but hard. How in the hell did Risling get an instigator though, excessive roughness maybe but in no way did he start that fight.
Really hope we kick on and play like this from now on. Goes to show that if the players shiw up the crowd will respond.
