After their dreadful weekend Steelers have taken action and sacked three Imports
Much as there is a massive amount to critcise at that club you can't accuse them of inaction . Discontented mutterings of fans staying away and not renewing season tickets seems to at least get through to Smith .

Della Rovere was a wage thief! Awful player, no idea how he made it this far.
Climie is getting on a bit and was never fit IMO. (How he got in as 3rd Spengler Cup goalie for Canada is a mystery)
And Buzzeo "Buzzed" about 😉 but no end product, didn't notice him most games.
As always, the replacements will determine if this was a good idea.

The only quality performers are the "old hands" of O'Connor and Dowd. A couple of the d-men are reasonable whilst poor Whistle must think he is facing a rubber firing squad most nights. Offensively this is the weakest Sheffield side for many a long year. Think the management will honestly be fearing finishing outside the top eight. What would "the family" make of missing out on the Play-Offs ?

Blame Thommo for the initial recruiting but Barrasso hasn’t improved them. Dowd came back from injury and they’ve also added O’Connor,Neiley,Climie and Armstrong but are still in 10th spot no better off than they were under Thommo. For me Barrasso needs to look at his own performance too.

Eberle should buy a lottery ticket. Far worse stats than Buzzeo, he must be the luckiest man in Sheffield today. It'll be interesting to see what calibre of player they can bring in. Most mid-season replacements are hardly earth shattering.

To be fair, Neiley hasn't played a game for 6 weeks, is he injured?

Work ethic doesn't trouble the scorers, that's the problem. Buzzeo is your 4th top scoring forward, that's right where you'd expect a second line winger to be?

He also has a habit of being totally un-noticable in games. His general play is pretty poor. Certainly wouldn't get into any team above us (although most of our imports wouldn't).

I have to admit that whenever we’ve played you I thought that Eberle looked dangerous, he works hard to drive the net and forces his way in from the wing. Buzzeo, on the other hand, didn’t seem to offer much.

Maybe that's true, but better a neutral zone pass that leads to a goal than lots of hard work that doesn't. I've never differentiated between how assists are earned or whether they're primary or secondary, as pretty much no-one else does. It averages out over time unless you have some solid stats to say not. Dropping the puck behind your own net for Fournier goes coast to coast is the same "worth" as a defence splitting pass that puts Haddad in one on one. That's just how it is. I may just look at Buzzeo's assists to see if that statement actually holds any water?

Only time he looked useful was when Barrasso initially came in. Be interesting to see how many of his points were in that 3 week slot. Either side, useless.

Both our team and Steelers equally bad this season and both forums almost identical in what they are moaning about. As someone mentioned on another thread we had good players with good cv's but for some reason they are not producing here and you don't suddenly become a crap player. We've almost not been good since Biggs left. At least Steelers recognise and get rid pretty quick. again I'm not expecting to see either Barrasso or Chernomaz here next season.

Night (morning) of the Long Knives in Sheffield. Can't blame them. It's amazing SDR made it this far. Homer had them nobbled before they left the gate.
Meanwhile in 12 defeats from 16 games Nottingham, tickets are selling well...

City centre night out venue with one a tram ride away.

Yep, it's a double edged sword that one. Given us a hugely stable club, but also made us a great big cash cow frequented by Saturday nighters.
(And yes, Pidge has said as much, many times.)
