A strange development to Billingsleys season considering his lack of appearances of late. GB squad for warm up game against Dinamo Riga. www.icehockeyuk.co.uk/2019/01/10/russell-names-gb-squad-for-riga-game/If he is replacing other Dual nationals from the last squad I can just about deal with it. After all a few were in the squad to help us get to the top tier for the worlds. However I really hope his inclusion isn't at the expense of a player who helped us get there. I dont know enough detail to work it out.

Batch is missing who imo deserves a slot. People are really swizzled at Russell because he’s left out.

Lacho also in. Clearly it doesn't mean they make the squad. A long way to go until the tournament squad is announced.

Ciaran Long should make the plane too.
This is the reason why TB has hung around so long

This is just the roster for the KHL friendly against Riga. Batch still has a good chance of making the final team.

I understand its for the friendly but if he was in the plans surely he would want to see him in a friendly before the real deal??

There clearly will be changes. You'd imagine Liam Kirk will come back in for the champs.
With it being top tier does anybody think Brendan Perlini may be a suprise inclusion late on? I guess it depends partially on if he thinks he can make a Team Canada senior squad at any point. Aswell as NHL commitments.

But then Garside is in? So that doesn’t follow on from his comments or does it? And why on earth is he still picking David Phillips? He knows him as he’s always picked him - though I don’t understand why before other far better options like Batch. Also a prolonged time out of the game due to injury - biazerre If this is to give others a look then surely choose Batch and use him on D - I don;t believe he’s eve given him a proper chance. He was up to scratch at the pace of CHL so surely he’s worth a look now?

Least Billingsley will be well rested ahead of the game.

Ehrhardt was the weakest link in our defense last year, but has noticably stepped up his performance this season, should be given a chance. <iframe style="position: absolute; width: 34.180000000000064px; height: 2.960000000000008px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_5050474" scrolling="no" width="34.180000000000064" height="2.960000000000008"></iframe> <iframe style="position: absolute; width: 34.18px; height: 2.96px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1638px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_73058240" scrolling="no" width="34.180000000000064" height="2.960000000000008"></iframe> <iframe style="position: absolute; width: 34.18px; height: 2.96px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 89px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_18235727" scrolling="no" width="34.180000000000064" height="2.960000000000008"></iframe> <iframe style="position: absolute; width: 34.18px; height: 2.96px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1638px; top: 89px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_15484398" scrolling="no" width="34.180000000000064" height="2.960000000000008"></iframe>

This would enable him to apply for a one-off change of national eligibility under the IIHF "‘four-year case" rule.

Just like Mosey and all. They arn't British trained.

I don't know if Brendan P qualifies though, I'd imagine born in Britain (was he?) would be enough, but as Pidge says playing for the younger level Canadian teams may have marked his card. Plus he may not want to represent us. And will probably be busy with Chicago anyway.

Well the hawks won t make the playoffs so it's not like he will be playing. It will be red tape which stops him or like you say he just may not want to

It wouldn't surprise me if Brendan holds fire eligibility discussions aside, he's only 22 and if he stays at the Blackhawks for what is going to be a rebuild then its likely as he develops and puts up points he'll be included in a Canada team in some capacity at some point.

I think it's a bit of a grey area tbh. It's not very well explained Certainly is grey. It seems very odd if he doesn’t qualify if Perlini was born in Guildford. Evan Mosey was born in the USA and Ben Lake in Calgary so they qualify through parents or grand parents having English heritage. You would think where you were born would take precedence over where your parents were born. 🤔

I wish they'd explain how guys like Billingsley and Lake have become eligible. I had no clue Billingsley had any British links.
I hope to see Billingsley back in the lineup for Panthers soon.

Me neither, but he has a Union flag in his EP page now. Slightly ironic that he and Lacho appear good enough for GB but currently barely seeing any ice at club level.

There are 4 other warm up games for GB... plenty of time to ice other players. Any ideas of the others? In this country or abroad later. I collect programmes and after I have been to Coventry on the 6th February might not be able to catch up with the other four games played.less they are ALL on the one programme here in the UK.
