Merely a rumour at this point but I've been hearing for over a week now from different people that Lacho is considering moving to another club within the EIHL. The reason is to increase his ice time for the reminder of this season (MK, Manchester, Dundee or Glasgow perhaps) to increase his chances of remaining in the GB squad. (When Chernomaz shortens his bench in the 3rd period Lacho is morning one of those benched). It's no secret that Lacho isn't Chernomaz's favourite player & hasn't been so since pre season). With the arrival of Stewart, if everyone is fit it effectively makes Lacho the 13th forward. If Robert Farmer is out long term (& this rumour about Lacho is true) I can't see Panthers being keen to let Lacho go in (even on loan,) until Farmer returns from injury. Time will tell of course if there is any truth in this rumour.

Can't see it, does Rich not fancy him? I know he's 99% chocolate teapot in terms of offensive output, but he plays a lot in defensive situations, penalty kill etc? Would seem a strange move.

For the first time since he came through as a youngster Lacho now has to battle for his ice time.
He could look at it one of two ways, take the easy road and go to a rink team to get that ice time handed to him or he could get his head down, work his backside off and earn ice time.
I think our Brits as a whole are a bit of an issue, excluding Ollie and Tetlow, the others have all gone backwards. That's a rot that has to be stopped in a league with an import limit.
Will certainly be interesting in the off-season regardless of who in coach. There could be a bit of a shuffling of Brits. Ciaran Long is having a great season, if he has any ambition I'd expect him to be signing for a title challenging club.

Bit of a shame though, was hoping we might sign Ciaran Long 😉

Interesting. He did presumably go though? Only game I can see he missed, and no mention was made of illness or injury, was away in Cardiff earlier in the season.
A proper shake up of Brits would be great, provided we got some quality ones to replace whoever went out. Still can't see it, will be too much like hard work for GM.

It may well have been that game then. I know he missed one for this reason.
Cardiff/Scotland - Same difference.

Not Bobby from Beeston! Mmmm well we wouldn’t particularly miss him would we. Points output is dreadful and any half decent Brit could do what he does on the pk.

It was Cardiff and basically he was called in the morning and told don’t bother coming as your not playing I think it was the first time in a long time he has actually missed a game. Let’s say there’s a few players who are less than enthusiastic about Rich, will be interesting to see who hangs around for next season , havent most of them been signed to potential 2yr deals.

They probably are less enthusiastic about him because rich makes their lives uncomfortable probably. They don't have the cushy lifestyle like previous regimes 😉
Anyway if it was me Lacho would have been let go 4 years ago !

Honestly I don't know for sure by player, other than the obvious uni deals. I know the format of the 2yr contract with the 'protection' is no longer a thing & some were only offered 1yr deals in the first place. Will see if I can find anything out though for sure.

Would Rich be likely to win out over the Brits? It'd be much easier for Gary to replace him, rather than a bunch of them?

Would Rich be likely to win out over the Brits? It'd be much easier for Gary to replace him, rather than a bunch of them? GM gets a bad press and at times has not been very diplomatic. However at the en dog the day its NB who calls the shots and Rich wouldn't have been hired without the consent of NB. Also GM does not control on ice activities - thats Rich. Some will be aware that GM was unwell earlier last year and his role is now reduced, with Calum and Dan being more involved. So re appointments - NB at the end of the day and on ice Rich.

If Moran don't like it he changes it. He probably tells Black what he's going to do he then he does it. Ask Ellis and Adey.

Meanwhile, back on topic. Would, I think, be a sensible move for Lacho. He's clearly "out of favour" at the moment, and frankly barely plays these days, even on the PK (was last on ice for a PP goal conceded in October, and I don't think that's because he's such an ace penalty killer they never get past him.). Started pre-season with Rheault and looked pretty good, but soon slipped down the pecking order. 2 goals all year, both in the same game. I think in the words of the legend that is Sheryl Crow, a change would do him good.

As stated by cooperphil156 - Gary has far less involvement in the off-ice product due to an ongoing health issue, Calum is day to day activities within the club taking up some of Gary's work & Dan is mainly the social media aspect. Rich is in complete control of the ice product.

Still doesn't really change the basic question, will the club allow Rich to get rid of Lacho etc, given the requirement for British players, or will it be easier for the club to get rid of Rich to keep them on side.
