Oh it’s definitely an attitude thing,it happens every year no matter what players or coach we have. It’s a management and culture thing just inbred into our team and ethos. I think the Brits are a lot to do with it too, they’re the constants from year to year who help to shape the new imports in what life is like in Pantherland and what they can get away with etc. If you’ve got laid back Brits then it’s going to rub off on the new guys. If our Brits in Cardiff had that attitude, they would be shown the door, Lordo takes no crap from anyone, otherwise he would be in trouble, and he would never put himself in that position. Yeah you’ve obviously got Brits with the right attitude and a coach and management who won’t let players coast. With our Brits they’ve all come through the same indoctrination never had to really fight for their place, they’re too laid back and our regime let’s them get away with it. Clarkey was Mr nice guy,Danny Meyers was all mouth and no trousers,Lacho has no fight in him etc etc, then you get the younger ones that follow them initially buying into that same ethos and none of them have had to fight for a place on the team, they could have a shocking Saturday game and they’d still be on the team sheet come Sunday. The old guard retire and you’ve then got a new generation of Brits with the same mentality, imports come in see the Brits and Groundhog Day continues. Bring back a captain like Foxy is what we need.

Just to add, I’m not sure what else that clown Chernomaz is up to as Pither is often put on the sabotage line where it’s all but impossible for him to score then he breaks up the Guptill Kovacs partnership so Guptill has his balls cut off too. You have to wonder.

Continually we are told by Chernoclue that the players are not playing hard and hitting hard as they are told and he keeps bringing in more and more big players I think a lot of the no-contact style is brought about by players who can’t be arsed more than anything else. Also, lost count of the miss timed hits that our players miss especially against faster better teams (which pretty much covers the rest of the league). Just watch Risling for a few minutes if you need an example. That style must require such a physical effort it's no wonder it only works for a few weeks (normally pre-season), and on occasion when we need an increased effort, like cup ties. They're playing minor league hockey, they're not going to thrash themselves to death for it.

Agreed. I think it's a recruitment & coaching error to go down that route. Neilson went the same way more or less in the latter years of his tenure, and it didn't work then either.

Just as a simple question aimed at nobody in particular. How many hockey players do we know that have had their lives ruined by playing ice hockey ? Obviously there are guys like Probert and Belak who died for different reasons and a few who’ve had to retire eventually with concussion, but this is a contact sport,is it any different to rugby or football. Guys have had problems yes but they haven’t banned heading a football for fear of brain damage or scrums in rugby because some chap broke his neck or hurt his back.
There is risk in any sport, crikey batsmen and even umpires have been killed playing cricket !

Give Stewart the C, he'd probably do a better job coaching too. Don't think he's afraid to speak his mind, got more experience than anyone and having experienced that game last night I'm sure he is more than frustrated already. I'm not saying the players should be scared of the coach but a guy like Stewart would hold them much more accountable.

When they get over here most of it seems to come about by agreement by the players themselves in the last few years.

so ur saying in the space of two season all physicality has stopped. Do u even watch the games when u go? I know it’s not as physical as it use to be. Calls are getting harsher but seriously? It’s only going that way bc of the injury cases that can wreck players life after hockey... <massive facepalm> Ah there we have it. The time worn “do you (assume that’s what ‘u’ meant?) even watch the games argument when someone has a different opinion to you? Brilliant. Well done. Grow up eh? No idea what your last sentence means? What’s bc? Before Christ? Brian Clough? I’m done trying to reason with you young un. I’m done trying to get you to answer any form of questions I’ve raised that might back up what point it is that you’re actually trying to make. It could be an interesting debate but you’re clearly not interested. Still waiting to hear about tough teams, tough players and how you’re measuring those ‘better players’ that are in the league. Lastly, quit with the ‘text speak’ eh? Pretty sure there’s something in the forum rules about that. What r u on about. Ban me for saying u idc 😂 so childish ur saying there isn’t physicality in ice hockey.

Plenty of players managed it though,it’s not as if your asking one guy to throw 20 hits a game, there are enough players on a team so they only need to throw a couple each in a game and that would be massively more physical than the namby pamby girlie tripe we get these days. I never saw Brad Voth shirk a hit and he was a huge lumbering guy who hit to injure,so if he could hit hard and often what’s happened......has the ice suddenly got bigger ?

What r u on about. Ban me for saying u idc 😂 so childish ur saying there isn’t physicality in ice hockey. It's the 6th commandment. How many hockey players do we know that have had their lives ruined by playing ice hockey ? There are plenty of players who have had problems after their playing career is over, and it's something we've become more aware of. Given that, you'd probably be unlikely to risk that sort of thing for Beer League hockey. The league also has to protect itself, hence keeping your lid on etc, if someone cracks his head on the ice and pegs out we're in a whole heap of muck. It's not so long ago we'd start a game with a heavyweight tilt, but it's gone, and never coming back.

Can we stop it with the petty personal bickering, please?
If you really, really want to keep slapping at each other... go find a sandpit and play in it. Get someone to video it and put it on YouTube if you really have to... but give it a rest on here, yes?
