We played like this vs Flames (last minute win) & Blaze (shut out on own teddy toss). The new coach effect has worn off. You can see that. You work and battle very hard but you lack the quality you had even last season. Smith needs to rethink his decision not to have an enforcer as well because the sport and the EIHL will stop growing, the sport needs characters we’ve seen in recent seasons to generate interest and to attract new fans back. The game needed a bit of a kick from someone for certain! Best moment of quality all night was the young pumas #74 skating down the wing and finishing with a one handed, chipped effort!

It's no good talking about being physical, as soon as players start putting themselves about most times they get called and sit in the box. Then fans moan about taking stupid penalties, some of the hooking and interference calls are pathetic. These soft calls are what's killing the physical side of the game. Watch the NHL and see some of the calls on there players are bewildered, it will soon be non contact.

Who cares about boring hockey - There was 7000 in the building - it’s a result for Moran and Black. What do you mean we lost - how irrelevant is that to the organisation?

Not sure i agree with much of these comments the facts are we lost on the sixth round of penalties, which is a lottery anyway ,we didnt get hammered. I agree we need someone to put the puck away a lot better than what we have right now, my take was first period they were quicker to the puck and passed it better that us, in the second it was a bit more even and the same in the third, but both netminders had solid games, nobody enjoys losing to them but some of the exagerations when we lose on penalties in here are hilarious in my opinion. People say the atmosphere was dead well not in our block it wasnt, we then get the elitist fans in here slagging off what are in the end fellow paying customers who are contributing to you being able to watch any Hockey here simply because they dont behave in the manner you prescribe, maybe someone should print off a instruction sheet to hand to them ? Then the standard of both teams are poor ! Well this is a beer league it always has been and that is the level you are watching, its not NHL, KHL, AHL or even Del is it? Its a bit like expecting a non league football team to play with the quality of a premiership team. It will never happen. Yes losing on the sixth round of penalties makes defeat seem so much more acceptable! Elitist fans? Who? The ones who put something on here you don’t like? Maybe you should print a set of instructions of what people are allowed to post? Well Ted lets see everytime win or lose someone it seems someone complains about the people around them like they have no right to be in the same building, forgetting of course everyone of us where new to the sport once as one factor and also not perhaps taking into account the amount of booze they can consume before, during and after the game, maybe we should have a hard core block for the long standing experts to sit together? Personally people making silly remarks around me i tend to ignore them unless they do something that affects my daughter or I. Maybe it takes more to wind me up these days.

I get that you may have a point of view that differs to others, no worries, it’s your right. Surely you can make your point without referring to fans (with differing thoughts to you) as ‘elitist’ or ‘longstanding experts’. No need for your own ‘silly remarks’ really. We get happy clappers, professional cynics and everything in between. Would be boring if we all thought the same. Personally, I would never clap the orange off the ice. Never. Ever. The ones that did were long term fans and didn’t seem drunk. I don’t get how anyone can clap them off. Diluted rivalry or not, they’re the opposition and the enemy. I’d love to sit in a ‘hard core’ block not that that makes me an expert of course. I just detest the nicey nicey, bend over and make the place as nice for the opposition as we can culture. Just doesn’t sit well with me in the slightest.

Sheffield won because in EVERY game against the Panthers, no matter who has "home advantage", they have a much more determined mindset. They want/need to win right through to the last second of normal time, sudden death overtime or any shootouts. Irrespective of the individuals wearing their horrible colours, they want to win more than the Panthers.

The last two seasons over the Christmas games it’s the Steelers 4 wins and Panthers 0 wins with an aggregate score of 17-5. Just abysmal from Panthers really. 🙄
