The highlights post game interview made me laugh. Apparently according to Calum and Kovacs the Dundee goalie played a blinder and made some amazing saves.
Mmmmm.....I must have missed all those incredible saves on the highlights ! 🤔🙄

yes the crowd helps but the players have to provide the foundation for the fans to build off of and tonight there was no foundation. When was the last time there was a real buzz and a great atmosphere in that arena ? An arena full of dumb ass fans, people some of whom it seems will put up with any old dross and yet still clap like performing sea lions at the end even when we lose after a dire performance. Makes you wonder what aspirations they have in the rest of their lives if they’re happy to constantly accept second, third, fourth or sometimes even fifth best from their sports team. Probabably not a lot I’d guess ! not being funny but didnt i read you never go to the games these days so guess you are accepting nothing really just an armchair fan who is pontificating about people who pay to be there hard earned to go to the games and can frankly do as they like in my opinion, the ones that clap them off i think regard the club and the team as an extension of their family, or the game as entertainment, me however walked out straight after their goal but i would not insult people who dont do as i did. Given you have a gold medal for moaning in here what aspirations have you got?

Amidst all the doom and gloom of this thread, it might be worth pointing out that we have lost just once in regulation time in our last 15 league games. Out of those games, we have 6 regulation wins, 1 OT win and 1 PS win to go with 1 regulation loss and 6 OT losses, giving us a points haul of 22 out of a possible 30. Had we won the 6 OT games that we lost (and I agree it's a concern that we have performed so badly in this respect), we would have had 28 points out of 30. It shouldn't be forgotten, either, that Dundee are unbeaten in regulation in their last 8 league games, which have included two fixtures against Belfast and one each against ourselves, Cardiff and Sheffield. Some of the specific points on this thread - re Lepine's penalty, the quiet performance of one or two forwards and the make-up of a couple of the lines - are valid in my view but let's not go overboard. In percentage terms, we are third in the league and we have more than half of the season to go and two forwards to come back into the line-up.
As regards iginla's post about "dumb-ass fans", "sea-lions" and the rest of it, that was simply offensive. What gives you, iginla, the right to speculate on other people's aspirations in life based on their attendance at a hockey game? I suggest you'd be happier following another team who lives up to your high standards on the ice and whose fans, in your view, belong to a more enlightened class of upwardly mobile human being. There are plenty of teams with webcasts so you don't even have to travel.

Given you have a gold medal for moaning in here what aspirations have you got? I’ve been to two games this year, against Cardiff and Belfast, but watched plenty of webcasts and still read every word so I’ve seen what they’re doing. For 18 years I watched them and in the last half a dozen years it’s got worse and worse,to the point that I chose to walk away from a season ticket this year. It won’t have changed this year and it hasn’t judging by the myriad of posts on here that mostly basically say the same thing. Fans can do as they like yes,if they want to spend their money watching Groundhog Day and then clap the team off after another dire performance that’s up to them. They’ve got their choices and I’ve got mine, but this is a forum full of different opinions and plenty of people feel the need to criticise me for my views so why should I not respond. I used to clap the team off if they won or even if they gave their all and lost, but like you if they put in a half arsed performance and got beat I was gone before the teams had even shaken hands. The pleasure I used to get from watching Panthers is now far outweighed by the frustrations I feel towards them, hence I hardly go any more. I have plenty of aspirations thank you and have no regrets, apart from allowing myself to be suckered in by Panthers all those years ago. They seemed part of my family,or I seemed part of theirs, but eventually it dawned on me i was just being squeezed for what they could get, with little in return. Would I do things differently nope,I worked bloody hard at everything I did,ran my own businesses for 30 years, retired twelve years early and don’t have to work again. I’ve never put up with second, third, fourth or fifth best in whatever I did and it follows that I won’t put up with it in sport. If other people see things differently that’s up to them,I wouldn’t wish to insult people personally,if I do then they have my apologies but in the course of responding to people’s posts with concerns about the dull atmosphere of the arena etc some people will take comments personally, probably the ones who sit on their hands, keep their mouth shut or spend half the game looking at their phone. I’ve heard people moan that “oooh the atmosphere is flat tonight” etc when I know damn well they’ve not uttered a peep themselves tonight because they were sat very close to me. To them I would say, well if you’re ok with flat then fine, but if your not then do something about it and the atmosphere might just improve.

At one point last night, we had a 5 on 3 powerplay, it was possibly the worst 5 on 3 I've ever witnessed. Ever. It was utterly abysmal I didn’t go last night, could have and even finished work an hour early, but chose not to go; I was however following via twitter and I thought that the 5 - 3 PP would be a defining moment in the game. I knew that’d lose once that PP opportunity had been fluffed. The 5 on 3 was totally wasted - we couldn't even find our own players with a 2 man advantage - no recycling the puck - very poor

Wasn’t Tvrdon brought in for his amazing PP skills?

About 3 seasons ago I had to forgo my season ticket because of a change in my personal life. I was saddened at the time, but it was a blessing in disguise - I pick and choose games now, and if I see that the team are not giving it their all on the ice I just don’t bother buying tickets for games - I’m not seeing a proffesional commitment from a lot of players so I don’t spend the money. If I still had a season ticket I would feel obliged to turn up week in week out what the product on the ice.

I’m exactly the same. Pick and choose now. If we realistically still in the title race after Christmas, I will go. But it’s like Groundhog Day. Other teams get better, our players always get worse when they settle in. It’s just the culture of the club, as long as we make enough money, it’s fine. No competition for places, other teams want it more.

Despite it all, we're 2 points off top having only played 2 games more than Belfast, but 4 more than Cardiff who are 2nd.
Makes these OT losses the last week so more frustrating!

Wasn’t Tvrdon brought in for his amazing PP skills? Yes and it has gotten worse since we signed him Sorry, you had a 50/50 and jumped the wrong way. Even after last night's fairly dismal 0 for 6, the PP since game 21 (Tvrdon's debut) is 18.9% (7/37), before that it was 18.52%, 15/81). Up until last night, the PP has been markedly better since Tvrdon's introduction, despite the fact that he only has one PP point himself.

Crumbs, that was a tough watch. Garnett will want all of those back, won't he? Special mention to the game sheet on the OT winner, at least you got one of the 3 on-ice players correct.

Why would he want them back. Most were scored straight over his shoulder from the blue line. I'm sure someone will have the stats but that seems to be where Garnett concedes most. And the OT winner, if he hadn't been so concentrated on whacking the guy in front of him when the puck had been played wide and left a gaping net to shoot into....
