As most of you are very aware November is Hockey Fights Cancer in the NHL. Teams have a lilac warm up jersey and have boards for people to write on who they’re fighting for. They do stick tape, laces etc. All the little things that make a big big difference and then have signed shirts and all that to raise money for cancer awareness.
As the seasons have gone one I’ve sat and waited for panthers to do something to follow suit. Being someone who has lost a few family members to cancer it’s a case very close to my heart. I saw on Instagram yesterday that Sheffield had turned their badge lilac and are having a hockey fights cancer night for one of their upcoming games. Now I know I’m not the only one who has been affected by cancer so I know I won’t be alone in my annoyance that the panthers don’t do anything towards it.
We’ll happily have fans throw hundreds of teddies into the ice for the children’s hospice which is a great cause so why not put in a few extra quid to get some lilac warm up jerseys, get the donation buckets out, auction the shirts off and make a little bit of noise about it all.
Just something that’s had been bugging me for a few seasons now.

Would be nice if it was a league wide thing, maybe even a UK hockey wide thing, rather than being left to the individual clubs. I assume the NHL one is centrally organised.
Agree though, it would be a good cause to support and nice to have it in the calendar.

Similar post and probably poster as last season. As yotes states a League thing more so. Think the club have done plenty on charities and probably covered some that get less exposure. So Panthers organisation I think rank high on this side of things.

My mum's currently in remission, 1-5 years so I know just how hard it is to cope dealing with it.
Since her diagnosis I've not been the same person as I once was.

It’s not just about giving money to charity it’s the aweness of it all. I lost my grandma at 8 and my mum at 17 both to cancer. All the avenues of help that are available I had no idea about. It’s as much to raise the awareness for all the people who have to deal with life after cancer. I appreciate what the club do for other charities and I’m not saying anything negative about them in that light I just think because it’s such a big thing in the NHL it would be great if they panthers did something during November towards it.

We have managed a special social media profile picture, but thats it.
Special shirts make money for clubs, should do more.

I'm going to play Devil's Advocate here (no, nothing to do with Cardiff!)... and disagree with you.
The Panthers adopt a charity each year... this year it's Autism East Midlands, previously it's been in areas like mental health - which affects a hell of a lot of people and gets far less exposure and support than cancer charities - and others. The fight against cancer is a worthy cause, but it's far from the only one... and it's a cause which probably gets more support and more awareness than just about any other.
So why should the Panthers jump on one particular bandwagon? Why should they be criticised for not doing so? Hell - they get slagged off every time there's a charity shirt or a charity raffle or auction or whatever... people saying that it's too much too often, blah blah blah.
I've been affected by cancer as well... I lost my aunt to it earlier this year, I've got a friend who is battling it right now and know others that have survived it (not without cost, either). So I'm not dismissing it at all. If the Panthers were doing nothing for charity, I'd probably be agreeing with you... but that's not the case.
As someone else said... if the league did it as a whole, a centralised effort - that may be a different story. As it is... they're doing their bit, just in a different area.
