Great entertainment tonight. Some decent hockey, couple of good fights and a bit of comedy thrown in. Monster hit from Rissling a particular highlight.

That hit was insane !! If he gets a ban for that I'm done with this league! Great entertainment tonight. That game had everything! Keep this up and win or lose I ll be happy. Surely Rich will be pleased with that

Surely Rich will be pleased with that It shouldn’t do it wasn’t called and it’s not like it was behind the play or could go unseen just an incredible hit. Venus got caught with his head down. How long as it been a game misconduct for 2 fights. It used to be 3. Really don’t like that rule

Looking forward to this one. Hopefully we'll start well, lots of energy, forecheck well and plenty of hits (of the legal variety. Blaze have started well so won't be a pushover, but I think we'll do this, especially if Garnett is on form. I was right to look forward to this one! Hits were there, Garnett on top form and we got a well earned win! That third period was insane! The hit by Rissling though! Trying to remember a better mid ice hit than that one? Lépine in the playoff final? A couple of good scraps and nice to see Blaze have reinvented Bryan Jurynec! Cherno giving their bench what for! Great stuff! All in all a really satisfactory night! Follow this up with a win at MK tomorrow and it’s starting to look like a really productive start to the league campaign!

What a game. Like has been mentioned best game at the arena since last years chl. Quality team performance tonight they all turned up ans did the job required.
Couple of nice tillies to go along the way.
That hit from JR was Lepine esc 1st time around cracking check.
Shout out to Garnett who got his 1st Domestic shut out, Hopfully give him some confidence moving forward.

Entertaining game. Both goalies deserving of their MOTM and good to see a bit of rough stuff for a change. Fair play to the Blaze's dwarf for stepping up a couple of times.
In fairness to them, one of the better Blaze teams to roll up to the NIC in recent years and a little unlucky not to tally. Hopefully be a good series between the two teams this year.

That game was tremendous fun. It was also good to have an organic atmosphere created by the on ice product.
The hits and fights spreak for themselves. It’d be disappointing if any bans come from either of the Biggs/Rissling incidents. In fact the worst hit was by van Kleef in the first when he went straight through the numbers on Ferrara.
Garnett did not have his most composed of games. At times he almost seemed keen to chuck the puck in the net. It’s brilliant for him to get the shutout but in my opinion not worthy of the man of the match.
Leading up to our second goal it was superb to see why players don’t just SHOOOOOOOOOOOOT as so desired by the crowd. Steve lee was met with a bobbling puck and more traffic than M1 at rush hour. It was a great play to settle the puck, make the pass to Kovacs who then fished up a freebie for Perlini to put away.
I am truly disappointed in Coventry resorting to diving, cheating and gamesmanship. They were getting bullied and rightly so. I expect more grit from a blaze team, not take a cowardly route. I’d be embarrassed (more so than normal) to be a blaze fan after that showing.
We play like we did tonight and we shouldn’t struggle against MK tomorrow who are on the back of 2 heavy defeats and having to travel back from Belfast.

Brilliant game last night with a bit of everything you could hope for. Hadn't seen Blaze this season and they were better than i thought they would be.

It’s the sort of game you want to take newbies too because you have to be dead inside if you didn’t enjoy that. That Rislling hit was perfect. And the fact the refs didn’t call anything even though there was an injury was a credit to the better standards we have now.
That’s what a rivalry game should be like and I think it’s Great when they done organically rather than forced

Cracking game last night, struggled to get to sleep thanks to the adrenaline flowing through me.
On the drive back to Derby I was thinking about if I’ve ever seen a better hit than Risslings at EIHL level, don’t think I have. Absolutely flattened Venus.
Some great performances from the lads, Doty especially can take a bit of stick off the fans but he certainly does a good job of getting under the skin of opposition teams, he clearly riled some Blaze lads last night. .
The Steelers games get hyped up but for me the real rivalry and the better games tend to be against Blaze.

I'm hoping we just play hockey next Saturday. We don't need to play rough but will if required. Sheffield have absolutely no one to worry us. Let them worry about us

I’m really happy Perlini has started to score again too. He’s been okay so far this season but we need him to help boost secondary scoring in the team. Got a bit of a greasy one on Wednesday and then popped one 5 hole I believe last night. His confidence will start to come back now and that pass for Farmers PP goal was superb.

Also praise is due for Kevin Henderson.
Seems to do a lot of the type of work that can go unnoticed when he’s playing in his normal ‘F’ position. But last night I felt he put in a solid performance playing on D. Barely put a foot wrong.

I have Henderson down as early season runner for unsung hero status.

Give me a grudge match against the blaze every day than one against the Steelers.

It had everything.

What a brilliant game that was last night, a terrific performance from us, 2 PP goals, 100% PK and a shutout for Garnett despite his best efforts to concede😂. The team overall played superbly with great work ethic offensively and defensively but certain players stood out.
Perlini seems to have found some form with a lovely goal and assist. Hendo looked class on defence, but you expecting nothing else from such a solid player. Doty got the fans, and the players imo, going, we played with an extra buzz after his demolition job. Hurtubise’s goal was a superb finish too, what a player he is. Finally, Rissling, what a hit and scrap to match, he’s going to be a fan favourite by the end of the season. I’m loving the hockey we are playing under Rich.

I can’t believe we’ve had all these posts on a Coventry game and nobody’s mentioned Kevin Noble. Was he hiding last night ? 🤣
