"Biggest deal of it's kind in the UK" So why have season tickets gone up £30? Double whammy. Extra cash and extra cash.

I don't really mind Panthers bigging this up like they did. I was hoping for something that would shake up the organisation more, but there's a lot of positives. + No more "GMB Panthers" + Hopefully Nottingham on the shirts + Big new sponsor might push for some more professionalism within the club + Money that could help push the team on (Otherwise calling it the biggest sponsorship in UK ice hockey history is giving fans a stick to beat the club with) I appreciate that some will be disappointed, but if you were about to become the title sponsor of something, you'd want them drumming up publicity! Although I agree with you about the positives (though I've never really cared if it says Nottingham on our jerseys), if they'd just announced this in the usual way, without the "New Era" trailers (it was multiple videos in the end), I think the same amount of notice would've been paid and the response would've been more positive too, as people wouldn't be annoyed that the new era isn't something a bit more interesting in terms of the on-ice effort. The saying, "All publicity is good publicity", springs to mind. A lot more discussion in the build-up with these mysterious videos and so people are eagerly waiting around for news. Now we've got them we're still dissecting the news. IMHO Calum played a blinder on that front.

Compared to a proper public announcement together with social media it would have been 100 times bigger. Why just preach to the converted? Of course it's talking to the converted Panther's faithful. That's who Nottingham Building Society are targeting with their sponsorship. Panthers will be happy for any traffic coming from being associated with NBS, but lets not foget that the people paying and seeking the most value from the association are NBS. I don't think they'll be too disappointed. I bet you that the main tweets have been seen by easily 10k+ people. There's over 6k members of the Panthers fan Facebook group and the Panthers official Facebook page has nearly 15,000 followers. Obviously there will be loads of overlap, but how isn't that a good job to contact thousands of local people who can be future customers? You fool. Now mentioning NBS as a shortened version to our new sponsor you've given ideas of the new 'NBS Nottingham Panthers' to be heralded. ...xx

Are you off down town with your paying in books to change your savings accounts and mortgage over to The Nottingham B S then Kiev. Would people really do that just because they now sponsor Panthers ? I doubt it unless they’re a bit shallow thinking. 🤔

Going on previous experiences, my hometown football team, Ipswich Town, used to have an association with Ipswich Building Society (might still do). If you had an account, you'd be entered into prize draws for free tickets etc... and could even do schemes where a slither of your interest went to the academy if memory serves me correctly. Now I'm not personally swayed by that but I bet you they'll be people who will.

The whole point of sponsorship is publicity and expanding your brand

Edit - turns out I ain't so fast, @stratty1234

Hardly a lot of publicity if it’s announced at the sheep meet? The fact that Nottingham Building Society sponsored the awards night probably contributed to that

"Biggest deal of it's kind in the UK" So why have season tickets gone up £30? Is it really 30? I thought it was 15 which is essentially the extra league game we got for free last season, if it’s 30 that is quite a jump %wise

15 I think, like you say DMS. Although that's across the board, so for silver and bronze it probably represents a slight increase per game. Edit - Adult price rises: 0p per game (gold), 6p per game (silver), 10p per game (bronze).

I have a few thoughts on this.
One is that the club playing the “we’ve listened, we’ve put the Nottingham back in Nottingham Panthers”. This has got nothing to do with them listening to fans and everything to do with the fact the sponsors happen to be called the Nottingham Building Society. Are you telling me that if Nike had offered £10m a year to sponsor us they’d have turned it down because they’d want us to be known as The Nike Panthers? It’s not a problem but don’t pretend it’s because you listened to the fans.
Secondly, the GMB deal was already pretty big. A bigger deal unfortunately just means more money in Black’s pocket. For the fans it makes no difference whatsoever (note season ticket prices going up for a start). This is purely a corporate announcement which just goes to show how out of touch the club are that they chose to big it up and announce it at a fans event. Personally, I couldn’t care less who the sponsor is.

I know we will never know the exact amount of this deal but has anyone any idea of a ball park figure? I have no idea the sort of amount we are talking about tens of thousands or hundreds?

The only thing I ever read about the GMB deal was it was 6 figures. I don't know whether that was for the term of the deal, or per year, or in fact if that was even correct

This is just more money in blacks accounts wherever that is . This means nothing to the fans at all .

Yep And yet some people still dispute whether or not Mr Black is making a ton of money. What really pees me off with this sort of sponsorship,is that the club fawn and laud over the likes of the GMB and no doubt now NBS,free tickets galore and anything they want, yes sir no sir, anything you want sir......but these people are playing with somebody else's money. Who at the GMB or NBS is putting his hand in his own pocket ? Contrast that with the everyday fan,or small business who sponsors Panthers with their OWN hard earned money, only to be taken for granted, treated with disdain and most likely eventually get crapped on by the club. Let's see if the "new era" changes the clubs outlook.....somehow i doubt it !

What really widdles me off is when it's NHS money. The NHS don't pay any money to the Panthers. It's actually a social partnership between club and the local NHS trust, with no money changing hands. Panthers get good PR for working with the NHS and the NHS get publicity for specific programs, such as mental health, healthy eating etc.

[Now sponsored (ie. paid for) by the GMB then ? 🙄 Yes I believe so, but it's not to take the attention away from the NHS but to expand what they can do. As the deal with the NHS involved no transfer of funds there was only so much that could be done. With the GMB sponsoring (funding) the community and health program there is potential for an increase in activities etc. The GMB funding something that involves the NHS is also a natural fit, given that they are a union with strong ties to the health and social care sector, as well as schools. There are many things to knock the Panthers for and I'm rarely afraid to do so, but this isn't one of them.
