No Betteridge will still qualify as an u23 next season as he is 22 and his birthday isn't until january so it will be an empty spot. Ah, see what you mean. Don't forget Gospel will no longer be u23 next year though, so we might need to use it there. That would mean replacing Clarke with an u23 brit and is that Good enough? Who in that bracket could potentially fill the void? Lewis Hook? Sam Duggan? It would also mean there would be no point in having 2 import net minders as he's now a part of the main 19 instead of one the extra u23

It's an added complication certainly, although most teams probably use a senior Brit slot on the backup. They need to work out what they're doing with the netminders, problem comes back to Garnett's contract really.

Do those teams run 4 lines though? I'd think you could still do that with Gospel as senior, only need 20: 2 NM: 1 import, 1 Snr Brit (Sam) 6 D: 5 import, 1 Snr Brit (Lee) 12 F: 8 import, 3 Snr Brit (Perlini, Lacho, Farmer), 1 Jnr Brit (Ollie) 14+5+1, think that's still within the rules(?). Then use 2 U23 spots for spares. The problem you'd have is if you had the import slots to play Galbraith & Garnett, you'd either have to have a spare senior Brit to come in, or play senior Brits short.

I think we had the added luxery of Clarke and Perlini this last year with the plan that this coming season Perlini would be Clarkes replacement. Ollie is more than good enough to deserve a regular slot as opposed to 13th forward. I also think Lacho had an improved enough season to retain his place. Having said that of course I wouldn't be against us poaching another quality Brit from somewhere. I really think Tetlow needs to be full time too. I dont think he would be a liability as 6th Dman but would prefer he was 7th for one more year.

All of that fine if gospel is good enough to fill the role of 2nd net minder like Garnett has done this season but we haven’t seen enough of him to know

That's only game night roster, we can still have another import sat in the stands. Can have whoever we like sat in the stands.

It's not really any different to this season. Gospel can be back up on the bench. Nothing to stop Ganrett or Galbraith sitting in the stands. All that really changes in Ollie goes from 13th forward to Clarkes slot in the first 12. Unless we shuffle the pack.

It’s a possibility but then I just see that as a wasted slot in a senior Brit if he’s just there to warm the bench and effectively answers the question of who replace Clarke as no one

Who would be everybody's choice to replace David Clarke? I’d go for Luke Ferrara. He got more goals and points than Clarkey this year and in less games too.

Cousin of Brett Perlini. Been at a NCAA team for two years so may not be available but looks good www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=93316

ashfieldpanther - I've moved this to the discussion thread, as there'll probably be a few comments. - Good luck to Brandon for the future, sounds like a sensible first step on the coaching ladder for him. Will forever be one of our league champions.

Probably one of the most respected EIHL players all round and an incredibly hard-working and skilful player. I don’t know anyone who isn’t a fan of him. Gutted when he left to go back to Belfast. Hope he’s as successful in his coaching career

Benny was everything I ever wanted in a Panthers player: hard working, team first, blue collar player. Belfast may choose not to acknowledge his contribution to us in their farewells but the amount of trophies he won here and the fact no fan on here ever had a bad word to say about the guy is a testament to how consistently good he was. He let David Ling be David Ling. he was a huge part of our league winning season and the pass to Galivan on that night will be forever in our memories.

As in, a player must play 2 seasons in the British junior system over the age of 15 or something. Conway left the UK aged 14 and has never been selected for Team GB, I'd assume there is something preventing that other than a personal decision. His season in the NCAA ended last month.

I suppose the Luke Fearrara signing confirms Danny Stewart as coach for the Blaze next season too.

Luke Ferrara back at blaze for tow years link A little disappointed as I think he could have been a good addition here but getting 2 years and some security will be good for the kid!

There are different rules for Team GB anyway, hence why Mosey can play. The rule around juniors is an elite league only rule, i think.
