and lets not forgot two games on the bounce now panthers have lost...
Heres hoping its a blip but our so called higher earner forward imports are still needing to provide more goal scoring...
This is the problem with games in hand, its so easy to fritter them away for little reward. Seems like a chose a good one to miss lets hope sheffield suffer the effects of wanting to bounce back...

No one cares about Saturday's result though, was nothing more than an exhibition match which the youngsters got to play good minutes. All games besides ours on Saturday were League Games too, all games yesterday League Games so technically we've dropped 1 point but gained 1 more game in hand. Maybe a loss like last night is what the team needs, we've been on a good run and all good runs come to an end so it's a nice little kick up the backside.

this is not the first "kick up the backside" this season though is it?.... yes we are in a good position right now but as mentioned numerous times over numerous seasons the league isnt won in November/December is it? Lets be honest here i think most of the longer term fans are expected what is known as the xmas slump in Nottingham, I'm hoping it doesnt happen but will not be surprised if it does therefore if this can be "nipped in the bud" now then that for the good isnt it?...

Move on absolutely, but start learning from what has just gone before. Do you think Corey and the players are happy with today's result? Of course they're not, but they won't and shouldn't be "just moving on to the next game" they need to learn to bury teams and stop taking their foot of the gas. Who suggested that the team would be “happy” with losing last night?

Do we know if they're long term or not? Corey wouldn’t comment according to the post. So it’s a fair bet it might be another “Schultz job”. Told ya last week our luck wouldn’t last and we should bring a spare in. And everybody said....ooh Iggys talking rubbish again ! 🙄

Yeah indeed Pidge and it’s not served them too well so far has it. We don’t care what Steelers do though anyway, why should we.

If they're out for a stretch then they probably do need to look at it, but there's nothing to suggest that's the case yet. You seem to want to assume it'll be like Schultz, to prove you right.

I’d just prefer they learnt their lesson and took action before injuries occurred. What did Brisbois miss,15 games or so ? Came back and now he’s out again. We’ve been here before....several times !!

Quietly effective, no fuss, no thrills, just gets the job done. Could do with at least one of them back for the weekend. Be a big ask to throw Tetlow and/or Hazeldine in.

The problem here is that a knee-jerk reaction could cause more problems than it solves.
If the injured players are not going to be out for long, not only do you risk messing up the team chemistry by parachuting in somebody new, but with spare imports... who do you sit out? And how do you avoid motivational problems when deciding this? They all want to play after all...
Team management is about more than just numbers... even if outnumbered, a tightly-knit team can overpower a larger but less integrated mob.

I don't want anyone coming in now to inevitable upset team chemistry .. imagine a player with a Kyle Hardy or Grimaldi attitude arriving!

I don’t buy this upsetting the team thing. There are enough hockey teams out there with spare players sitting out games and it’s nothing unusual in lots of sports. Yes you want to find the right guy ideally, but players should be prepared to fight for their spot, not be able to coast it knowing they will play the next night. Spare players didn’t hurt Cardiff last year.
We are potentially now down to 3 import D. Yes Lindhagen and Mosey can play there but that hurts the forward lines and we haven’t exactly been prolific up front even with a full 4 lines.

Hang on... you're taking an uncertain situation (whether Brisebois and/or Spang are going to be out injured for a while - we don't know either way) and adding a totally hypothetical situation (another D-man getting crocked in training)... and you're using that as a basis for an argument that we should go out and somehow recruit someone who is up to the same standard as the players we've got right now? (far from a guaranteed end result). This is what I was talking about when I said "knee-jerk reaction".

But past experience on more than one occasion tells us that a very promising season can very soon get blown apart by a couple of injuries if you don't react quickly. We have all seen it happen the past few seasons. A week becomes two, then three and before we know it he's been out a month or more !

What we have also seen before - and far more often, but nobody ever really remembers this (because people only tend to remember the extreme stuff) - is that players get injured and then come back only having missed a few games, maybe even only 1 or 2. If we play the probabilities, then the highest chance is that Brisebois and/or Spang will be back fairly quickly. That's not a guarantee, of course... but what is guaranteed? Absolutely nothing.

its not the "couple" of games that hurt the team though Shaggy its when the club string it out knowing damn well that the injury is more serious than "just a knock" so they can do nothing when bringing in a player even temporary (perhaps even on a tryout which can get the best out of a player short term look at lawrence in sheffield) can fill the gap which maintains the momentum rather than let it just fade away with the club dropping back to mediocrity, which lets be honest we have seen season after season after season in Nottingham, in fact it might even be fair to see this is more like the norm than topping the table...
The team have made a great albeit stuttering imho at times start to the season it would be foolish not to at least try to maintain this especially if a few are injured and the best way to do this is to have a spare or too imports... look at the season we did get the monkey off our backs and we had a player of the calibre of Beauregard sat in the stands...given it could be done then surely the fans should expect this is the minimum we should have now?

Having seen what exposure the club got in the CHL, and knowing that the only way to qualify next season is by winning the league, anybody who thinks the management is not bothered is in cloud cuckoo land.

We have effectively carried a spare all year with the 19 full time skaters we have - Lindhagen drops to D and were still rolling 5 D with four lines. If you want to roll 6 d, Mosey drops back and we can roll 3 full lines and then rotate a centre/winger in to roll 4. We have options to take our time and if we are looking for a spare, get the right one not the one that's right now.
I am not concerned
