Totally agree. With regard to the Continental Cup, it gave us entry into the CHL and promoted both Panthers and British hockey.Perhaps some of last seasons team had a focus on that and put aside other distractions. I was in the Czech republic in May and got talking to a chap from Norway. He had heard of Forest and Knew about the Panthers in Europe. Whatever we think of that idiot DS and his sidekick, the better any British side does the better it reflects on our game. We look after ourselves we don't need those half wits up the road to do us any favours.

Simms on radio Sheffield “There are 4 good teams in this group this year, unlike last year” Ai, Simmsey you can try and diminish our achievement all you want but doesn’t look like you’ll even make the final at this rate.
If they go out this weekend, I hope we make a big point of it come December the 2nd. I’m not usually up for all this stuff but I feel like we need to rub salt in!

Chants of "you let our country down" please. Currently 2-0 down and probably deservedly so. They have had their spells but mindless penalties in there too. For Steelers to have any chance of success Thommo needs to drill some discipline into his players, it's no secret that euro refs are trigger happy with the whistle.

They've tied it up, 3-3.
Probably in our future interests for them to at least make the final. Presumably our standing is a league wide one (?), so I'd rather the league be at a level where we start in this round, rather than the one before.

How long did the Zamboni dude take to cut the ice there, blimey. Far too long. To be fair,Steelers were by far the better and physically stronger team. I only saw the 2nd and 3rd periods but I thought Rungsted were a poor team. If that's the best the Danish league have got, then the EIHL is a much better standard.

So that's 2 points from a possible 6. They are still in it, but just barely...

They’ll squeeze through to the final tomorrow and everything will be rosy in Steelerland. Let’s hope they do it as it means another trip away and three more games to squeeze in.

4-2 win sees them through to the finals. Have to work out a way to reverse that Minsk defeat though.

Congrats to Sheffield. They will have to improve significantly to win the whole thing.

I hope the Steelers win it but it's pretty much a impossible task going over tbere and beating that team in their own back yard .

And some of them are moaning like hell about it. If it's similar to Ritten, where the stadium and Ice were completely unacceptable for a Final and Sheffield was available to host, then I can't say that I blame them.
Us Panther fans raised our eyebrows when we didn't host the Final (Even though it would have been played a week later) after we saw what Ritten was like.

This Belarus rink is supposed to be very good. Only 4 or 5 years old, seats about 10,000 and was used recently to hold a big world championships. No surprise really that the House of tin came second in a two horse race. Lol

Also suspect that the Minsk rink doesn’t have a foul mouthed, homophobic announcer?

Apparently Sheffield would only have been in the running if Yunost Minsk or Nomad Astana had turned hosting rights down, due to the way the competition works.
It also looks like Minsk is a bit of a pain to get to from the UK, with the only direct flights seemingly being from Gatwick and with a very limited service (Wed, Fri and Sun outbound and inbound). That's a shame.
I hope they get battered.

Nothing is 'turned down'. Teams have to bid to host the event. This year, 3 teams bid and Minsk was selected. I'm disappointed, but have no issue with the decision. :-)

It's just that others, who generally have their finger on the pulse of these things, say differently. What would be the point in trying to top your group if it didn't give you at least first dibs on hosting the finals?
