I'm pretty sure EVERY team does this and i've never seen a 5min penalty for it

The poster has hardly hid their allegiance in their profile name & I don't see them masquerading as a Panthers fan in the posts today so perhaps some leeway is deserved.

I am embarrassed for the guy to be honest! where was any defense made? , i clearly said it's NOT right but it happens all the time and I've never seen a 5min penalty that's just factually what I've seen! (well not seen) you lot need to stop crying over an incident that occurred last season, that's pathetic!

Panthers web says Murphy has a shoulder injury, which was what the usual chatter said too. Think it was more how he landed making the save, than anything to do with the slash.

Yes apparently he dislocated his shoulder in making the save/being fell on, however there was a slash by Fretter and Murphy did leave the ice clutching his hand. So, although it appears the call was incorrect, I can see why he got it wrong as Hogarth thought the slash caused the injury and therefore his only option is 5+game

Yeah, perhaps. Presumably he could've asked Murphy or the doc what was wrong with him though?
I'd be pretty miffed if that was us tbh, although I'd be more miffed if Neilson had a meltdown because of it and had to go to the naughty step.
On the subject of refs, is Darnell still on the circuit or did his health issue force a retirement?

Yeah, perhaps. Presumably he could've asked Murphy or the doc what was wrong with him though? That would be tricky. If he had a dislocated shoulder that would probably make him forget about the pain from a broken finger? So he'd probably answer that his shoulder was the problem. Even if it was the slash that broke his finger(s) and caused him to fall awkwardly. Too much guess work and supposition, so the ref has to go with what he sees. A reckless slash to a netty and then a netty lying prone on the ice. Plus how would Murphy reply when he's lying in agony and a stripey comes up to him and says "mate, which bit hurts?"

I agree you could get two things in an instance like this, but I'd imagine the doc asked him which bit hurt when he got there so I don't think it too outlandish for the ref to get hold of that info before making a decision on penalties. They already (more or less) do that for something like accidental high sticks.

If he had a dislocated shoulder that would probably make him forget about the pain from a broken finger? From personal experience the pain of a dislocated shoulder was all-encompassing, so much so that it is still what I remember most about when I had an accident parachuting, even though I also de-gloved both my lower legs.

Looks like their pet ref gave them the game yesterday with a PP goal in last minute or so...

They already (more or less) do that for something like accidental high sticks. Think we kind of agree? But if Murphy says his shoulder hurts, does the slash therefore go relatively unpunished? 2 minute minor even though he may have broken fingers? Not so much of a problem if it's his (unused) catching hand though If he had a dislocated shoulder that would probably make him forget about the pain from a broken finger? From personal experience the pain of a dislocated shoulder was all-encompassing, so much so that it is still what I remember most about when I had an accident parachuting, even though I also de-gloved both my lower legs. Jeeze! Sounds horrific!

I see no punishment for steelers head coach comments, just like no punishment for simms last season. How odd....

Crivens, that's nasty. The only time I've ever seen that before was an Irish motorbike racer who caught his boot on a fencepost after falling off at 100mph+. Ouch.

To Be honest, if we must have The League Chairman being an owner of a team, then someone else should take the responsibility of dealing with disciplinary issues regarding that team.
