Good game so far, Gagnon offering the entire Belfast bench out has been a highlight!

Enjoyed that game, glad we went one nil down as it forced us to be more clinical. Still making a few silly errors in defence but the forwards seem to be shooting more and some of the forechecking is brilliant. The amount of turnovers we created in there zone was incredible.
Have to say I think Lacho has really stepped up this season which is good to see. Gagnon really enjoyed tonight and him offering out the bench made Keefe go crazy can’t wait to see Keefe on the ice with him.

We made some silly mistakes at the back tonight but I thought we were good for the win. I think the closing out of the game was the most impressive aspect for me tonight especially since we seem to concede late a lot.
I thought the Giants tried their bullying tactics like they did against Sheffield and not once did we back down which was great to see.

Think we bossed that. 5-4 flattered Belfast really. I personally felt that Guildford were more difficult to play against from what I've seen, we had so many huge chances tonight.

Enjoyed that game alot and apart from a couple of sloppy plays at the back (looking at you captain) i thought we were good for the win... oh incidentally as one of his biggest critics thought lacho had a good game tonight...
Belfast do look a very good side though and will be very difficult to beat on their own ice

We looked dangerous going forward and at times sloppy at the back. Need to rectify that cos Turku will take advantage. Onwards and upwards

I really enjoyed the game last night, some of our play, especially in the 1st period was scintillating. We kept the pressure in the zone pretty much constantly and cycled the puck very well.
Again some 'interesting' defending allowed Giants back into it but to be honest they didn't really deserve it so when we took the lead again it was fully deserved.
Gagnon offering the Giants bench out was brilliant...Martninelli (sp) is a dirty so and so isn't he!?

Thats the way I saw it. I think a couple of bad bounces and a few iffy reffing decisions helped giants back into it. They scored a couple of good ones too and they gave us a decent game. I just think we were way better for large chunks of the game. If I were to be critical I would actually still say that not taking our chances nearly cost us, even though we scored 5. The first period we scored 3 goals and looked fantastic, but probably should have had a couple more with the chances we created. Good performance. The first time we have looked good domestically so far and against a conference rival too. Much better and much more confident again after that.

...Martninelli (sp) is a dirty so and so isn't he!?... He seems like their replacement for Darryl Lloyd. Big gob, likes to clutch and grab, no testicular fortitude.

We struggled to deal with the speed of the Belfast top line, but they are way too reliant on Connolly to get things going. No way were Belfast coming here to soak up pressure and hit us on the break like Guildford & Braehead, it made for a better game and suited us. Again I say, why doesn't Phillips EVER shoot ?

Whistle has had more ice time this season than Murphy, so not sure where that comes from? He started in the home game against Sheffield on Saturday Guess EP hadn't been updated at that point.

Why on Giants first goal did we only have four men on the ice for the build up to it?

Why on Giants first goal did we only have four men on the ice for the build up to it? Lindhagen pinched in and was up the other end of the ice and I think there was confusion as to who was supposed to be on, a defender or a forward. I also saw Brown jump on the ice then quickly jump back onto the bench, it was a real mess...

I enjoyed the game last night and I was impressed with our play, the intensity and physicality was there which it hasn't been at times recently.
Looking at Belfast's goals the first was an absolute mess from us as a team, Coachs included in that. Their 2nd was a good goal, we couldn't have done much more to prevent that. If we're being harsh the 3rd goal could have been handled a bit better by Lee, he could have directed it wide but he probably didn't realise Garnett had already started moving across the crease. The 4th we were unlucky in that Brown got his helmet knocked off, which happened more than once to our players last night, and he had to leave the ice giving them the man advantage, so it was a bit unfortunate for us.
Looking at it the defence only really let us down on the first goal, an overall much better performance, plus I thought Garnett played much better last night, made some brilliant double saves especially in the third.
Going forward, as has been said, Belfast suited us in that they weren't just sitting and hitting us on the break, they came to play and try and dictate play. However, I think our 40+ shots tell us that this didn't happen. We could have had more goals which is the encouraging thing and once we start converting our chances fully we are going to be a force.
Also a shoutout to Lacho who I thought had a brilliant game last night, he bagged a goal but he looks like a completely different player, absolutely fantastic game, his forward play looks a lot more fluent and he looks like he's playing with some confidence. Ollie, Bus and Lacho have impressed me so far and hopefully they can keep on doing so with more goals.

Why on Giants first goal did we only have four men on the ice for the build up to it? The 5 on the ice when it was scored were 23/71/16/29/54. Credit where it's due, Lacho did have a cracking game last night.

On the first goal, Mokshantsev was the winger covering the D and he made the wrong choice in going forward to try and win the puck rather than back skating to keep it 2 on 2. Rookie mistake IMO.
I have to say the Betteridge-Lacho-Bussieres line keeps impressing me. Ollie is putting points up and I think the presence of Bussieres gives Lacho some confidence to play his game.
I actually thought Derlago worked hard last night and when martinelli was trying to take liberties, he was there sticking up for his team mates.
One downside, I thought Spang stunk the place out last night. Some awful decisions he made and he didn't look like he could string a pass together!

I think Spang has been terrible from the start actually. I was hoping he was going to more like Schmidt and improve in his second season but its been the opposite and he's got worse. And i think Derlago was stupid with the Martinelli incident. Yes he stood up to Martinelli which is good thing but when they were being separated by the officials he couldn't help himself and took one extra cheap shot and the ref called it straight away for a needless penalty

Enjoyed the game, good physicality to it and the boys played better then the last two home games. Gagnon had the arena pumped, plenty more of that needed. Belfast got lucky on two goals, the deflected 2 on 1 and when brown had to go after being headlocked and his helming coming off, guy at the back to tap it in wouldn't have had that time and space. Officiating was suspect at times and terrible at other times. What's the deal with the lanky linesmans wanting some face time? Drop the damn puck man!!! Bussieres is standing out at the minute for me, every shift he's relentless, abit rough around the edges but he just goes and goes.

Think Clarke made a lot of mistakes last night, he continues to worry me. Spang was God awful, again. Why the hell we bought him back I'll never know. Moshankshev made some errors but hey he is young he will learn. Lindhagen super as was Brown and ollie mosey looked a threat going forward. However we need to improve on our d which at times was pathetic and our power play. Think on one they had more shots than we did!

Think on one they had more shots than we did! although he scored last night I don't think Clarke played well, he hasn't since the season started for me. His ability to keep position of the puck when on the power play is terrible and it has been a key downfall of our powerplay so far. But Corey continues to give him time on it... Oh and when we were on a powerplay he decided to stay on the ice as the next unit came out and we got called for too many men!
