Very true Dill. But no goalie is going to be able to play every game in a Panthers season, not even a stud goalie,we need TWO IMPORT goalies to compete properly. Panthers just don't plan ahead. Neilson,Black and Moran all knew last season that we were going to play an 80 game season,so to start with just an injury prone Wiikman and the hopeless Dan Green was just complete and utter madness. Yes they brought in Pacl, but too late the damage was already done and seriously,he wasn't the answer, just a quick cheap option, the same as Sarkanis later on. Had we not let our Brit pack diminish so badly over the years, now the import limit is up to 14 it would have been perfectly feasible to go with two import goalies and play them both together at the expense of an import skater. Yet again,no planning ahead on the Brit front though ! Agree i think this league is now big enough to support 2 import goalies and bringing in a couple of players like Matty Davies or Jack Prince or others, theres more out there if you look hard enough they could replace Dan Green and the soon to be retiring (within the next year or two you would think) that should be enough to offset losing an import skater, and if one of the goalies picks up an injury it shouldn't be too difficult to draft in an emergency backup for from the Lions or similar. It will have to be a bit quicker than a year or two. He is utterly useless now without another two years on him.

Think i shall file that under the same heading as Janssen pulling out the day Corey rang him to ask when he was arriving ! 😂

So they had planned ALL summer to get a young import back up and couldn't even manage that in time to start the pre season, where it would have been nice to have a look at him. Then coincidentally, just after Wiikman gets injured,we announce we've "borrowed" a young, cheap, ten a penny Euro netminder, after a call to good old Pete Kalus. Mmmm, sorry Owen, but I don't buy it.....just more spin to cover up bad planning ! Still at least they were listening,as probably two years ago I suggested they should get a young Euro as back up. Things must be improving on the Panthers listening front, albeit very slowly. Perhaps in another two years time,we might actually have two PROPER import goalies !

Zack Fitzgerald, John Armstrong, Robert Dowd, Levi Nelson, Captain Jonathan Phillips, Luke Ferrara, Liam Kirk and Cole Shudra are all under contract for the season ahead. Given who they have announced as resigning next season looks like no goalies are going to be safe again... Armstrong is back, this must happen:

We lost the game however, but dominated the physical play. Tortorella losing his poo poo was the best bit. There's footage somewhere from the corridoor of him trying to get at the Flames team but McGrattan is just standing there laughing in his face.

Only thing McGrattan did was manhandle one of his own coaches. Didn't like him as a coach but I loved the passion and no-nonsense style of Torts. McGrattan just needs to go out and do what he did to Maggio in Round 2. With a guy like Armstrong though, he'd have to be no choiced and preferably when Desbiens and Fitzgerald aren't on the ice because if either of them are, McGrattan won't get a clear run at him. That's if he even comes back.

Lawrence is the latest to depart.
Very much a marmite player and someone few can figure out. Made some nice memories, with his 4 goal game and the whole Lawrence Love thing, miming after winning Playoffs. It's going to hit the tills of the local establishments more than it'll hit the club, that's for sure. Not sad in the slightest, we can sign much better.

Don't forget he was only on some strange loan signing two way thing and could have got called back to Orli or wherever it was he came from at short notice.

Somebody we would be interested in? He'd be very handy on the fourth line as he's got the experience and I never thought he looked out of place in Sheffield
