This proves to me that the Cups are Panthers only focus and the league can swivel.
I think it's bred by Neilson but there were so many passengers again tonight and having watched the Continental Cup Final games, there were so many uncharacteristic good performances from players who have cruised the rest of this season.
Guys like Steve Lee, Brad Moran, Logan MacMillan (who is better on D) and Matt Carter showed what they can do in Ritten, yet tonight they were as impactful as Steve Schultz. Steve Lee has backed away from every 50/50 in this league campaign, yet in Italy he was all up for his mid-ice checks that we got used to from him in 2012!
Farmer had a quiet game tonight for whatever reason. Lawrence gave in one of his typical lazy performances. Spang was shaky, Dimmen had a so-so night & Betteridge doesn't really cut it.
I thought Lindhagen was bright though. Nikiforuk continues to impress but often lacks support. Williams again showed his class & Brown puts the graft in. McGrattan was playing very well but Corey doesn't like him coming out the locker room after the 2nd period. I would even give credit to Lacho credit for his performance tonight too.
A lot of credit to Fife however. Owen is an outstanding keeper and should be looking at a big move in the summer. Brooks was unstoppable as the game progressed.

I thought they were good value for it tbh, Owen was excellent.

+1 Spang is class but never off the ice. Worst game I have seen Dinman play and pretty sure Lawrence is injured. Owen is the best netminder in the league by a country mile and Brooks and Fox were excellent.

Owen kept Fife in that, he wasn't unbeatable though and we had chances that we should have taken, yet failed. The second goal for them was a mistake that could probably have been avoided had we not had Lee and Macmillan on the ice together, had we been in our own defensive zone then we would have been fine but in that position it is suicide.
The club should have waited to re-present the trophy, it puts a huge dampener on the success doing it after a loss, it also highlights how poor we have played this weekend and it makes people further question the team and what they want to achieve. I feel very deflated at the minute.

Boring as hell. All the same old problems so can't really be bothered. Nothing on the scoreboard about the Continental Cup and a lacklustre celebration after the game. Bet there's plenty of energy on show at the shirt auction though.

Dull game, haven't got tickets for Wednesday but I just know that they will put in a performance because it's the cup.
Was very impressed with Owen, great netminder. Brooks speed in the game and his goal was very well taken. I don't think we played particularly bad if I am completely honest, we just didn't have that next step that we needed to finish the game off. The league was already gone but would have been nice to try get as close to the top as possible. Top 4 finish is looking a struggle atm.

I feel the same, we get the odd game or two that Panthers get it together but most of the games I've seen have been like this game, to many give aways, poor in transition a lot of the times, makes you wonder what they do in training are they up in the bar? big E took is goal well, Nickforuk was all over the ice. One think is Panthers don't seem to have specific player for PK or PP team, it just looks like anybody can get on special team if you have a hockey stick.

Panthers have been a decent cup team for years. Any other games and our players just don't seem bothered. Let's not forget the quality of the teams that Panthers played in the CC, they too are "also rans", no real quality, no teams from Germany, Switzerland, Sweden etc. I just feel the CC is meaningless. It won't advance British hockey one iota. How many stayed to watch the team parade the meat plate? Only about half? I would love the next coach to build a team of stayers, players who understand what most fans want and are willing to adapt their natural "cup" instincts to cope with that. Other teams seem to have been able to pick players with a league driven mentality, why not us? Just back to square one tonight. No finish. No passion. No good!

Genuine question but did Black say at the start of the season the Continental Cup was the main goal? Seen people alluded to this on facebook, twitter and wasn't sure of what he said.
Id trade it for a league title everyday and twice on Sundays!!!
Shame Blacks main goal wasn't the Elite League as I believe we would still be challenging

Awful.
This last week puts the club in context. Win a 'glamour' European trophy, come home to 1 point out of 4 in the bread and butter stuff.
I should've come away from the arena buzzing but came away dejected.
Yet more proof if ever it were needed of where this clubs priorities lie, and it's definitely not the league.

Am I the only one who thought that was thoroughly boring, lacking any intensity, just another game, devoid of any spark and about as exciting as watching paint dry. Hockey used to be exciting, feisty, hard hitting, edge of your seat stuff, with a simmering intensity that something might kick off any minute.
But now,it's just dull, nothing much happens, the game ends and we all go home thinking.....eh was that it,wish I'd not bothered !

Wasn't there tonight so cannot comment on the game, but I'm glad someone else has posted what I've been thinking. Now the euphoria of last weekend has died down, just how good an achievement was it? How would Ritten et al fare in the EIHL?

Had we won it several years ago though......that would have been a serious achievement.

So pleeeease guys, consider supporting the supporters trust! If this gets off the ground we will have the opportunity to put the supporters views to the club in a legally recognised forum to which they MUST respond.
