Hi Iggy, Thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately a further complication resulting from the recent Q&A has slowed things down a touch but we are hoping to be back on track soon. Some of the projects we are aiming to deliver would be easier and quicker if we were working with the club. Unfortunately as that is not the case the projects are taking a bit longer to get moving. We are making progress with a charity idea, a project to showcase some of the rich history of Ice Hockey in Nottingham and also another to look towards the much longer term future of Ice Hockey in the city. We do hope to have some more firm and positive news. Please bear with us and keep an eye of for the membership emails. Cheers Rob 07974 330553 Yes I understand the trials and tribulations of dealing with brick walls.......but that's not what I asked Rob. How many members has the Trust got ? Just over 200 I believe.

I'm sure that the vast majority if not all of the trust members would have signed up if the pack including nothing at all because they believe in the idea. As I said though, surely no harm in adding some value to it? I signed up not expecting anything. The fact that I received inclusive gifts/ opportunities was a bonus and in fact may well benefit us on the whole. I'm sure Rob has constitution / agenda or whatever is needed in hand. Any further holes to pick at? The members are asked what they think may suit or be needed as we are it's driving force. But we are also happy with the advancement of things at present. are you truly happy with the advancement? and do you truly believe the agenda exists? when a question along the lines of "what suggestions do the trust have" from NB at the q&a was raised the response was similar to "i haven't had time to prepare". the q&a was announced weeks in advance and even delayed by a week. that is also before considering the fact the trust has been in the pipeline and driven with a 'mission' for months. granted its not on the club hasnt met with those involved however when the opportunity was there to put forward plans, issues etc it was taken with quite a feeble response.

To be fair the only thing he could reasonably suggest acting on behalf of the Trust is, "get your diary out and let's have a meeting." The whole ethos behind the Trust being a democratically led group is that it needs to prepare and gather the views and concerns of both the membership and the the wider fan base before it can act to represent them to the club. Asking someone who is a member, director, or whatever association on the spot what suggestions to you have is asking that individuals opinions and it's quite right that the Trust (I.e all the members) have the opportunity discuss what should be broached so the the club. It's a strawman (created by Mr Black, not a criticism against you) because while it was the opportunity to put something forward, to do so would have been inappropriate without proper consultation. Perhaps the Trust could have been more prepared and I'm sure next time they will, but it's difficult for the guys to get things going with the day to day stuff when they have to take time to deal with threats of legal action from the club they support. PS IMHO I believe the perfect response to Mr Black (with the wonderful gift of hindsight and not being on the spot in that situation) would have been to say, "Well a meeting sometime in the next few weeks, depending on your availability, and with time for the Trust to convene, discuss and bring forward our praises, criticisms, suggestions for you and our elected representatives to discuss in a suitable venue." Although the Trust have been saying words to that effect for months.

...granted its not on the club hasnt met with those involved however when the opportunity was there to put forward plans, issues etc it was taken with quite a feeble response... Can I ask, were you at the last meeting? If so, do you think Neil Black honestly seemed in the mood to be receptive to "plans, issues etc" or do you think he was in the mood to do as he did and turn it into a public slanging match? I thought Neil Black was a more shrewd man than he has lately made himself appear, someone more inclined to be open to the changing nature of club/fan relations in professional sports, but it appears not. Do you think Neil Black would honestly be offering these Q&A sessions off his own back? Do you think a man who appears to be both as arrogant (as apparent in the last session) and out of touch with anything other than the bottom line of the club (as notable in the previous session) wants to be answering questions from the punters? I'm sure, just as with GM the GM, he'd much rather we all just shut up and give them our money every week like good little consumers. But this isn't a Happy Meal or pair of jeans, this is a sports team that existed long before GM and NB came on the scene and it drives passion and a sense of 'ownership' in its supporters. If conglomerates of foreign owners can see the benefit of this country's football teams having supporters trusts then why can't Gary Moran and Neil Black or, perhaps a better question to level at said individuals is, what are their objections?

I think people have answered the query as to why the Trust did not tell NB what the trust had in mind.......He knew the Trust had stated that they'd not use this as an opportunity to pose questions. Simply because they'd asked for a meeting many times and this wasn't going to be a chance for the club to slur on the Trust.Or the Trust to be seen as cornering the club.

As a trust member, I had the email way before the cancelled q&a that said that the Trust wouldn't be asking questions on the night and that NB had been sent communication to that effect along with pre-submitted questions.

I know I'm probably going to regret this but I have to ask. Why has the fact that the Trust (well in name at least) is sponsoring Sunday's Lions game against Whitley been so poorly advertised?
Surely the the idea of sponsorship like this is promotion. You/your company/whatever sponsor a game/team/player as an opportunity to bring your trust/company/whatever to a larger audience (I appreciate that individuals sponsoring players can be for very different reasons).
To date I don't think I've seen anything on Facebook and only one tweet directly referring to the sponsorship (and with that you only find out if you read the blog). OK, there may be reasons why this approach has been taken but to me it seems counterproductive. You may have encouraged your members to attend but in my opinion (and I appreciate how little that is worth) you should be using an event like this to group that membership.
This is a genuine question, I'm just curious as to the thinking that's all.

Which is why I phrased the second sentence in the way I did. Personally, I'm not sure that it matters whether it's the Trust or a trust member on their behalf sponsoring the game. It's still an opportunity to attract people that isn't being used to its full potential. Where are the messages on Facebook? Where are the tweets? Someone is paying for this opportunity I'm sure they wouldn't want to see their money used to the best advantage. Maybe I'm completely wrong but I know not I was in the same situation that's what I'd want.

Perhaps it's someone sponsoring (making available) the game so as members can gain free entry only. This was one of the items (an entry card) supplied to members within the joining pack.
That person not wanting anything other than this for themselves or indeed the Trust.Giving the Lions some revenue.
But I see the point as using this more (if possible) to gain 'interest' to the Trust.
I wanted to 'sponsor' a Panthers game for my family members (Dad and two newphews) who died in quick succesion and I could see GM's point that it was largely business that did this, so we 'dedicated' the game to them and others who had suffered loss of our Panthers clan at any time, past -present and future.
Is this perhaps this case but again it needs full exposure if possible in the Trusts name.

All Trust members have received emails about the game. But that's like emailing members of Nottingham Forests supporters club that Forest reserves are playing on Saturday.....you would hope THEY would know. It's other people the Trust should be telling about it.....not just a closed shop of 200 members. 🙄

This is surely the whole point, the Trust trying to use the fact it has 200-odd people to get a good crowd for the Lions for this game, to introduce people to the Lions.

Membership is open to anybody, absolutely anybody.

I just meant it was a restricted number of people that were being informed about it by virtue of the email.

In the end, not a bad evening to get Trust members on board as far as Lions are concerned. As Trust members get the free entry. It should be assumed that they'd justify a good crowd before any possible extra personnel who are always being sought. General public turning up would probably be at usual rate. Bar the 'I' ll join the Trust and get to a free lions game' to be fair. Just an option to add Trust members which is nice.

I, too, think that the website is not pro-active enough - and I'm running it! I've written to the Trust suggesting that they publish their ongoing plans and projects, rather than wait until fruition as I think people would then see the efforts they are making, and, if those efforts strike a chord with non-members, they might be encouraged to join. If those plans come to nought, at least members would know that they're trying.
I beieve that Spik offered to do an odd facts and stats page which I'm sure might get others folks to acces the site, though I don't know whether the Trust are up for it.
Shortly after the Q&A the Trust announced that they would be making a statement shortly. I know that they might be still seeking advice behind the scenes, but there is a great danger that the longer they take to issue that statement the less impact it will have. It's not for nothing news stories are often called 9 day wonders! Personally, I would just publish the letter and have done with it!
Finally ... Having just admitted that I run the site, I beg your indulgence! I'm now in my 70th year and this is the first public site I've done, so if it's a bit amateurish, apologies. If anyone has any ideas to improve it, just let the Trust know on contact@nihst.org, and they'll let me know.

Hasn’t the trust done everything it’s set out to do? We wanted to have a closer connection with the club and now they are doing QNA’s, we wanted the social media to improve and for them to interact more and they have.
