Just noticed this whilst browsing the Internet. m.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/14231124.Bradford_ice_hockey_player_in_court_accused_of_breaking_opponent_s_jaw_during_match_brawl/It'll be interesting to understand why he has been advised to plead not guilty? Whilst we as hockey fans see fighting as part of the sport it is surely a bit of a grey area, legally speaking. If there was footage that showed Reece fighting back then it could be argued that it was between two willing combatants (as per boxing), but if there was no attempt to defend himself made then surely, under the eyes of the law, it could be considered something else? I play ice hockey but don't accept that stepping onto the ice means I consent to potentially being assaulted and having my jaw broke. If I decide to go toe to toe with an opponent that is a different matter of course. Interesting.

I seem to remember someone on the inferno citing this as reason to call the police after the Cam/Marsh coming together. I'm almost certain I read back then that the accused gave Glossop absolutely no option and thus was not deemed as a fight between willing participants. This is from my, admittedly sometimes unreliable, memory mind you.
Having no footage is a hard one I reckon, but the broken jaw could speak for itself, if Glossop was cheapshotted/blindsided and had his jaw broken in one punch I can see why it has gone to charges, likewise if Glossop was down and the accused kept going at him. Just a shame there's no footage, for none-grisly reasons, obviously.
Is this a one off? Does anyone know of any other on ice incidents that have ended in police intervention? I'm at work so it's difficult to Google it.
