With Panthers making there final signing I thought I would make a thread asking a few questions of your thoughts of the league ahead. So here it goes:
Most looking forward to seeing for Panthers? Most looking forward to seeing from the other teams? Team your most looking forward to seeing at the NIC?

Here are mine:
1. Kolnik - I know a lot of people may say Moran but I think Kolnik will be a great player for us and really looking forward to seeing him play.
2. DERRICK WALSER - Belfast Giants. He should be a top top player in this league and one I wouldn't have minded Panthers signing.
3. Cardiff Devils - The look to have a great team signed up and these game have always been great.

1. Tricky to pick one from ours, like you say Kolnik and Moran are the standouts, but Schultz/Bohmbach is interesting, Teddy and Dimmen at the other end, and of course Wiikman filling some big pads. There's a lot to look forward to.
2. Agree about Walser, also Holt, Jackman and Leavitt from Clan's roster.
3. The Purple Steelers.

Just watched the match and Nelson looked very good not just because of his goals either. Plante too looks a good NM, very quick glove.

Ended 4-0 Steelers. Clan had 3 imports and haywood missing. Steelers were full strength from what I know.

1). Wiikman. It's the most important position on he roster. Following Kowlaksi will be no easy task. It's no coincidence for me that we won so many trophies in Craig's time with the club. Wiikman will be the single most important player in defining our season IMO.
2). Walser.
3). Caps! Dull as dish water apart from their lunatic Netminder for years. A total change of direction this year so hopefully much more fun to watch.

1. Peckham, he's going to be a top defence man, hopefully his hits will be more crushing than Lepine's
2. Beech for Belfast
3. Steelers, still the most exciting game for me, always get giddy when they come to our barn, the rivalry will be as fierce this season as it's been for years

I am just going through the players and planning my Fantasy Hockey League team, and most teams have at least one or two stand-out players. Think the whole league has had a distinct upgrade. Now the worry - last season a number of games were spoilt by inconsistent decisions by the stripies, and unfortunately I think this is what will define this season as well. There are a lot of players new to this league who will need to find their feet and get to understand what will or will not be allowed, and if the stripies are consistent they will learn quickly but if they are inconsistent expect a lot of games to be ruined.
As for the original question the answers are easy. 1 Everyone 2 Everyone 3 All of them
It has been a long few months so bring it on.

Clan best hurry up, doesn't the CHL start this week? I am amazed that they are playing short this week-end - cannot see why they should not be using these games as training - see what happens tonight, if they are still short benched then think they are using the CHL as an excuse to get a better squad for the league.

No. Last season when we in the CHL we had the squad here miles before anyone else. Do you really have to look for a negative elsewhere now we have a good squad?

I didn't say we didn't have a good squad Shorty. As I have said lately I am very happy with this years team,it looks solid and with plenty of quality too.
I'm not looking for negatives and was just responding to other posts.
Last year Cody Wild didn't arrive until late,Mark Lee turned up injured,Clarkey wasn't available for the first five CHL games and some of the other imports only got here just in time to step on the ice with hardly any preparation time.

Good to see that one thing that hasn't changed this season is Gary*'s inability to take a photo without introducing motion blur. Tradition, I don't like change. panthers.co.uk/content/countdown-first-practices-go-well* - If it's not Gary behind the lens, get Gary to buy you a camera with image stabilising. So either way it's kinda Gary's fault

Am I right in thinking that we won't have all the players here for first game of the season ? If some are still waiting for visas (bearing in mind the signing before moran was nearly a month apart) then surely there isn't enough time to get moran and jansenns in time?

Kolnik's here, although presumably he doesn't need a permit anyway. Wiikman was already here, dunno about the other 10 yet? panthers.co.uk/content/kolnik-lands-nottinghamYoda in the Panthers' office is being a bit vague I feel: "There are still a few players we are still expecting because of visas, but the squad is starting to shape into the full roster."
