Never saw it coming ? I told you all last week. That must have been another of my "wild guesses" eh Tootootrain....that turned out to be true again. I think you owe Pidge an apology ! You were hardly the first person to come up with the rumour but hey, well done you for being so good at regurgitating rumours seen elsewhere with such lightning speed. I owe Pidge (and yourself for that matter) nothing. Oh and for clarity this is what I said to Pidge and I stand by it. Note the "due to sheer volume, occasionally gets lucky" (in reference to you) bit.

I think PantherDman was the first to mention Thommo for the Steelers job!

I was at an Under 12s game at the Skydome on Saturday that both Thommo and Corey were at because their sons were playing on opposing teams. Nottingham won. I hope that's a good omen for the coming season!

www.thestar.co.uk/sport/ice-hockey/ice-hockey-22-years-later-the-wanderer-returns-home-to-sheffield-steelers-1-7234326There are a number of slightly strange things in this statement. It would appear that the under 20 league is unlikely to happen this coming season, which I think covered Adams contract. With Tony Smith as Elite League chairman giving one reason for replacing Adams being to coach the under 20 side it begs the question as to whether this was merely an excuse or did he not know?It is deemed a prerequisite for countries competing in the World championships that they have to have an under 20 league laid down by IIHF. Firstly when did the Elite teams realise this? If it has been know for some time, why has there not been some preparation, so it might go ahead this coming season? My disappointment is that it seems to have been forced on the Elite teams and not initiated by them. One senses a reluctance on the part of some and a somewhat disjointed approach from governing bodies. Maybe fixtures should go ahead if only on an ad hoc basis for a part of the coming season, dragging the unwilling in by their hair.

So, do we not get to play in the Worlds next year. Not having an U20 league?
Just throw in a mini U20 competition league during the next season to appease IIHF. Agreement for all teams to play a one game v other sides.

I believe that the majority of junior clubs already have teams playing at u19. Nottingham has two teams at u19 and have had for a number of years. Whether there has to be a definite link with the pro team of that I am uncertain.

Anyone claiming itk on this is an utter buffoon. It was ridiculously obvious Thompson was going to be appointed.

Whether there has to be a definite link with the pro team of that I am uncertain. That is the excellent work done by the Nottingham Ice Hockey Club - seniors Lions. A bit of a hobby horse I know, but although Corey has some input it would be good to have more input from the Panthers. Lions for example play Coventry Blaze. As many have commented it is an ad hoc relationship. If it were under the Panthers wing, no doubt that it would have a huge impact particularly on their funding, e.g. for travel, kit and I've time. Obviously someone like Shaggy will know the exact situation.

This appointment is comical given Smiths reasons for dumping Adams. It appears Simms has cemented his influence with Smith firstly in getting rid of Adams and secondly in hiring Thompson. A bit of a stretch that he will do everything Smith says needs to happen given the task requires a lot of investment and a professional cast of team(coaches/mgrs.) personnel something Smith neither has the money nor the patience to develop. Must be some confused squealer fans about now trying to put a positive spin on this disaster in waiting.

So what about Mike O'connor? What happens to him? Mike O'Connor is Commercial Manager not General Manager, he looks after sponsorship & I think community stuff.

Has Thomas jumped before he was pushed? Can't help but think he has been on borrowed time for a while now.
Not sure how this squares with Thommo's pro-Brit ideals though, or prehaps they only apply when you're chucking such comments around from a distance?

That is interesting, harsh too.
So given this info, even if he wanted to come back, would Kowalski get a WP?

If a player or goaltender was not available for selection for a match or series of matches due to injury and provided that written independent medical evidence is submitted stipulating which games the player missed through injury, those games will be excluded from the total when calculating the player’s appearance percentage. Games in which players or goaltenders were suspended will be discounted when calculating the player’s appearance percentage provided that the club can supply written evidence on official letter headed paper of the League.

Could make Coventry's retention of Stewart look even better.
Does this make Bowns more attractive/ expensive for EIHL clubs?
