So we're under way again.
Dogs start as they'll undoubtedly go on by stinking the place out. Bloody useless. Fortunately blacked out on GCL by Premier Sports.

Yep. The Flyers are abysmal too. Going to be a long season.

Our second effort was much better, 3-2 OT over the Kings, although at 0-2 in the first I was about to switch off.

Another hopeless effort tonight. Winless Carolina, so of course shut out and beaten by 3. Too many AHL level forwards playing too high. Tipp will never take a chance on playing kids either so a full season of Klinkhammer and Moss awaits. Wake me when it's over.

Arizona GM Donny Maloney sums up the experience of watching the Coyotes perfectly: Combining "Oh my God" with a yawn and finishing with a facepalm, the full range, magnificent.

Good. They'll probably win the draft lottery now.

So, end of the regular season (and not before time for me).
Play off match ups are:
East Montreal Canadiens v Ottawa Senators Tampa Bay Lightning v Detroit Red Wings New York Rangers v Pittsburgh Penguins Washington Capitals v New York Islanders
West St Louis Blues v Minnesota Wild Nashville Predators v Chicago Blackhawks Anaheim Ducks v Winnipeg Jets Vancouver Canucks v Calgary Flames
Any predictions?

I'm happy that Q made the decision to go with Darling instead of Crow, he deserves his shot. With Kane back I'm hoping the team will settle down and find their comfort zone again!

Just watching Ducks in Winnipeg.
Rather trivial point but am I the only one that doesn't understand the white out. I obviously get the theory but why do it when the home team are in dark colours and the away team are wearing white?!

I'm like a zombie this morning after watching the Hawks game but seriously happy Seabs got the winner!

Rangers close out the series in 5 games against the Pens, was curious how NYR would do with having the 'favourites' tag this year but they seem to have embraced it.
I also see St Louis are on the verge of bottling a 1st round series AGAIN, got to be the end of Hitchcock if they can't win the next 2 games surely?

Even though the NHL is dead to me after the draft lottery, I'd quite like to see the Rags do well, for Yandle (suffered enough). Shame it looks like TB are going to fail against the Wings.

TB manage to oust the Wings, think Detroit had some injury issues.
Anyhow, ding ding, Round Two:
West Chicago Blackhawks v Minnesota Wild Anaheim Ducks v Calgary Flames
East Montreal Canadiens v Tampa Bay Lightning New York Rangers v Washington Capitals

At least we have a great nettie in 23 year old Petr Mrazek for years to come, hes been nothing short of outstanding in front of a ordinary defence (Kronwall and Zidlicky excluded)

The Metro division is quite even - but weak. As a Ranger fan, I'm nervous (if we beat the caps) about what lies beyond. Tampa or Montreal worry me. A lot.

No point in getting nervous till elimination is upon us. The Rangers are being quite funny on Twitter - they have stopped using capital letters in all their tweets. Quite an entertaining little gimmick. Not sure if Caps fans have been dumping their Ford Rangers by the side of the road though.

Looks like the Hawks/Wild series could be a good one. Hawks really need to quit the 2nd period brain farts though, last nights game was a little tighter than I hoped for.

Conference Finals East: New York Rangers v Tampa Bay Lightning West: Anaheim Ducks v Chicago Blackhawks Incredibly, at no point in the series were the Rangers winning until the GWG went in in game 7 OT. Predictable that these 4 got to the conference finals - they probably are the best in the NHL. But its anyone's now. The teams out west are probably better, but it'll be down to how much the playoffs have taken out of em. Tampa swept the Rangers in the regular season, but all the games were played early doors, before we got rolling. Another goal tending battle awaits, I think - although Stamkos' fitness may also be key - a fully fit Stamkos v Lundqvist on current form is a proper duel.

Nice little pay day for Mike Babcock to join the Leafs. Should be a decent appointment for them though.

It'll be a great appointment in the long term; still not sure who'll get traded this summer as Dion is up for working with Babcock, despite allegedly wanting out of TOR only a few weeks ago & rumours are the club is working on a big deal with CAR. Two first rounders this year too in a very deep draft which is made all the more pleasing given Hunter & Dubas actually know what they're doing with youth development.

Tampa bay Lightning beat NYR 2-0 at the The Garden to win Eastern conference playoff, and will play Blackhawks or the Ducks in the Stanley cup final.
