Having had a think we had the better of the game for much of the time and a lot of shots- Their net minder had a blinder. O'Conner showed skill on the puck and we had a lot of quite good players who showed effort. However I thought we didn't have player to open up their defence to create telling opportunities.

Yesterday was extremely disappointing, but the other two games offered some hope for us... IF the GB team can play to their potential - which was certainly not the case vs Croatia. Better set-up play and more scoring chances than in recent years, but we are still lacking that killer instinct for finishing. The defence was poor (let them waltz right through for their first goasl) and although he was far from solely to blame, Murphy looked out of sorts.
However... in the second game, Romania (GB's opponents in 3 hours) looked very poor. Possibly shell-shocked by a strong Polish team, but even so. No spark at all. The third game was odd. Lithuania won 4-0, but they were a bunch of individuals (1 NHLer, but also 3 EPL players!)... Netherlands were more of a team, but were even worse at finishing than us! Danias Zubrus is a cheating git... drew a high-sticking penalty by grabbing his opponent's stick and bringing it up into his face - then ostentatiously checking for blood. Netherlands goalie got landed on & went off injured - that could hurt them.

Matty off with an injured knee. We have outshot Romania (16-6)but still no closer to a goal. A great save from Bownes, with an open net. We should really be well ahead of this sort of opposition.

Still 0-0, if we can't beat Romania we might as well give up. More PP opportunities missed.
Are we at least playing reasonably well?

It's really hard to watch on TV after watching the NHL playoffs. Such a contrast in coverage style for one thing and intensity for another.
There is nothing wrong with it, it's just a transition.

A lot of shut-outs in both divisions 1A and 1B. Only three games have ended up with the losing team getting more than a solitary goal.

As always, you can never be sure of what's going to happen at these tournaments. Poland won again, but despite the 5-1 scoreline they didn't seem to dominate as much as expected (Netherlands' #1 netminder is out injured and the #2 does not impress). And we all had Romania pegged as the weakest team and Croatia were looking strong... but Romania are currently leading 3-1! Go figure...

A very very back door job now.Needing Croatia to beat Poland , Romania to beat Lithuania and us to win for a start. Off top of head Lithuania to beat Croatia and us to win on final day for some sort of GB hope....probably OT for Croatia and Lithuania wins.Got a headache.

Won't be doing anything this year now, a win would've left us nicely placed, shame really. Hopefully beat Netherlands tomorrow to confirm our place at this level for next year.

Not happy with that performance at all. Plenty of passion, but that's about it. Second to the puck most of the time, terrible passing, poor shooting... and a totally stupid penalty by David Philips to give them the GWG. So many players on this GB 'team' that we know CAN do the job, but just aren't doing so now. Game 2 today (2:30 UK time) GB vs Netherlands is now all-important.
