Yep, absolute joke. I hope the family gets laughed out and told to pay the costs.

This is the problem with the ambulance chasing culture we live in.
This is a load of garbage and hopefully common sense will prevail.
What next? A golf spectator gets hit on the head from a ball coming from an adjacent fairway and sues the golf course for allowing multiple golf balls to be used on the course at the same time?

Amazing that it has taken 6 years for her to realise that it hurt and she wants some compo for it.
If this isn't kicked out there is going to be massive repercussions across the hockey world.

I remember seeing old photos, black and white ones from when my grandparents went to the Panthers many many years ago.
No plexi, as far as I can tell no netting, I wonder how many people sued when the puck went into the mass of people around the ice?
Im guessing here but I bet the total number was less than 1.

She wants to try going to Hull. Pretty much in the danger zone wherever you sit

Even if they do win any compensation £30,000 is very high for minor facial scaring. Up to £5000 is considered the max for this type of scaring. The rest is probably solicitors fees. Having experiencer of how the compensation system works she could of started her claim 5 years ago and it's only just got to court. Hope it is thrown out.

So its more than likely that her parents instigated this at the time and its taken this long to sort. Can they Sue the giants because i thought they were owned by a different company now?

Actually, claims of this nature have a limitation period of three years from when it was discovered the injury was caused by the accident. The exception is for a minor, in that case you have three years from when you turn 18.

The usual time limit for submitting a Personal Injury claim is 3 years from the date of the incident but it's different for children. The 3 year time limit wouldn't have kicked in until she was 18 so she effectively had until her 21st birthday to make the claim.
This will open up a real can of worms if it's decided in her favour. Isn't there anything on match tickets/season tickets to say you're entering at your own risk or words to that effect?

I know giants fans are normally bitter but this particular on is clearly even worse. Cricket fans bloody love it when the ball goes into the crowd! And that ball can cause just as much damage!

I Sstiil think this claim has been going on for a few years as yes there is a three years limit to start the claim, different as stated for a minor. However it can take quite a few years from starting the claim to it actually getting to court. Depending on when they started the claim it can take up to 3 years for insurance companies to agree to settle the claim. If they decide not to at 2 years and 11 months and it then goes onto legal proceedings it could still take another 18 months after that to get to court. The chances are this claim has been going on for a while. If it was a new claim by the young lady after she turned 18 it would not be in court yet.

Team playing in league sponsored by ambulance chasers gets sued. Irony.

I think it is quite an interesting case. Obviously the venue owes their customers a duty of care. The NIC announcement goes along the lines of 'keep your eyes on the puck at all times.' It isn't feasible for people to do this during warm up when there are dozens of pucks flying around.

It isn't feasible for people to do this during warm up when there are dozens of pucks flying around. True. But it is reasonable to expect that people are at least paying attention to the fact that pucks are flying around.

I would hardly call someone suing the Giants a "fan" of the club... Not a 'real' fan anyway, eh? Makes you wonder, what could a team get away with doing to a 'fan' before said 'fan' can be allowed to show umbrage against the team, without having their 'fan' status questioned?
