So we face Sheffield in the semi finals following their win against Dundee tonight.
I really hope they do not double up on the league games.

Steelers have said tonight that our home leg will be included on the season ticket. Guessing it will be doubled up if that is the case.

Another two games against the Steelers which means at least 12 meetings this season, possibly more if we meet at some point during the play-offs.
It's far too many.

Agreed - 8 league games against the same opposition is to many. Surely we could keep the conference system but just play every team 3 times at home and 3 away? Rather than the current 8 games/4 games split. Still a tasty semi final though

Its got a bit boring a while back, now its just getting sad. No doubt both teams' mouthpieces will be turning the BS for 'Europe's biggest rivalry'* up to eleven, once again. *Only someone with very limited hockey experience outside this little island could ever describe Steelers/Panthers as 'Europe's Biggest Rivalry'. Hell I'm not even sure it is the UK's biggest rivalry.

The league will love this, considering they get a big chunk of Challenge cup gate receipts.

Look at the crowd last night, if Coventry had the amount of season ticket/big fans we'd be selling out against them.

Double edged sword. Seems like we are always playing the same team every week but if we increase the number of clubs and keep the same stupid import limit the quality of the on ice product is going to drop through the floor.

Joe Steeler says their home leg is included on their season ticket! Good move for them as they have plenty of extra seats to fill and with the inevitable hype fest leading up to the game they will do well financially I am sure.

There are too many games versus one team in the league. Which is why I suggest the format change to that on the 'Fixtures thread' ...... But we can't have our cake and eat it. Reduce the number of games and you lose Sheffield a few times but also reduce Coventry ties. We can also only afford to raise the league to 12 teams too for other reasons, one mentioned above.

For our leg, I think Panthers may like to bump the Saturday 22nd home game against Stars, if Stars agree to it? (Though it would be funny if we bumped one of the Giants games in the 15/16th double-header and make them travel over twice ) Alternatively it may end up being Tuesday 18th Feb (Jake Bugg at the arena on te 20th). Any other thoughts?

It'll sell well whenever they play it, won't matter if it's midweek. The wider fan base still very much buys into Panthers Steelers. I tend to agree with Jono that we're seeing them far too much, but I'll still enjoy knocking them out of this one

No. Certainly would not. But ... Didn't Giants do that to one of the Scottish teams last season ... possibly to make way for a CC game against us? Didn't we lose a Friday night fixture in Scotland on what should have been a triple header in Scotland this season also - I cannot remember why. Was a tongue in cheek comment tbh 5+G. I think GM and Kelman have too much 'respect' for each other for that to happen.

Interesting run of fixtures they've put together there, Sheffield away, double against Belfast, Sheffield home - all in the space of a week.

True enough, although Belfast will still want the points and won't be taking anything easy, and professional pride will play a part for Panthers.

Hang on a minute. WHEN did Belfast play Hull in the quarter final? Nothing in their fixture lists.

Nothing in their fixture lists. 30th December, doubled up the league game in Belfast as the single leg quarter final, which is the format nowadays, well if you want it to be, do whatever you like lads... Match report (BeflastGiants.com)

Think will should be allowed to double this one up with the 3rd Dec league game played BEFORE the semi's if that's ok with everyone?

There's no way either Panthers or Steelers would want to make this a single leg affair... I'd rather they all are at the knockout stage, more (or even some) drama.
