not saying this will happen or its true for that matter and don't shoot the messenger but make of what you like

Did see him having a lengthy chat with the guys on our bench after the game just before he was announced as MOM, mind you he does that most home games, must still have a lot of friends here

I would welcome him back but for me it's not going to happen any time soon. If ever.

Says more about the problems at Cardiff than anything else. MM still has a good few years left in him with a proper team.

This has gathered a bit more pace. DS has been tweeting that Matt might leave either for Panthers or Telford (presumably in a coaching/playing role). As telford seem to be hard up - perhaps less likely. However I heard from a good source that he was unhappy with Devils before Christmas and I wouldn't think that this has improved much.

Good for Telford - last I heard they were in a bad shape.

Given what they did to his brother maybe Matt has decided Cardiff are not for him.

Matt was behind me and another guy in the toilet queue over the POFW and the guy behind asked if he was coming back and he said you might see me in Nottingham next season. That could mean when he is playing for Cardiff or another team against panthers, for the panthers, or just at the odd game when he has a day off. I asked him how sobering a season it's been in Cardiff after last years high and he said it's been bad to say the least

Didnt he sign a two year deal with Cardiff? & to move back to Nottm would involve uprooting his wife who now works in Cardiff, unless she stays there and he commutes. Would be great but can't see it happening.

Doesn't he have a business in Nottingham with Sanny Meyers? I don't think his or his mrs's roots are as firm in Cardiff as you would think.
A Clarke, Myers, Lacho core to the Brit pack would be pretty cool. Farmer has work to do but could be Weavers successor.

Heard from matthews friend he is in talks with telford. He has fell out with devils management and they cannot afford to pay his wage agreed so he can go. He is happy so far with what they telford are saying but he never mentioned panthers

To be fair he won everything he wanted to with Panthers and for him that was a good time to pursue his career elsewhere. Everyone I'm sure would love him to come back, his wife has very good friends in Nottm so the transition would be easy but she also is settled with a job in Cardiff. I would be very surprised to see him back here but stranger things have happened.

He is not even 30 yet.
Too much of a talent to be wasted in a lower division, and starting a coaching career at his age - he must be crackers unless he knows there is something that will prevent him playing much longer.

If it is correct that the ambition of the Telford owner is to play EIHL its just one season and of course money talks. We of course would love to see him back - always 100%. With regard to Telford playing at this level the season after next and presumably a Blacks London team one or two things spring to mind. Firstly to balance the conferences at 6 each - who would join the Gardner conference - Cardiff? Also It would mean perhaps another 10 Brits would be needed at this level. That would be good for British ice hockey, but some development would be needed. Also the teams with good Brits would have an edge.

Georgraphy wise, it would probably be something like... Scotland x4 Hull Belfast Nottingham Sheffield Cardiff Coventry Telford London

If Hull play like they did this year then that would be a cracking conference

To get this back on topic, is there even a possibility he will return to Cardiff should they sort the finances?

theres a rumour on Belfast forum about Peacock possibly signing for Nottingham, given the choice who would people rather have? Personally I think Myers is a great grinding player but Peacock would score a lot more points...
