I wasn't having a go at anyone, it was my understanding you had to send a copy to the league, and you've presumably got a copy for the game DVDs that get sold by the club. But it sounds from your follow up Unicorn that both the Beeb and Premier would need the master tape/s for broadcast?

But it sounds from your follow up Unicorn that both the Beeb and Premier would need the master tape/s for broadcast? The problem is. The BBC can only edit SD DVCAM tape, so thats the only formatt I can film in. Panthers have a deal, where the BBC collet the tapes stright after the game (they also proved all the DVCAM tapes)for use on EMT. Only one copy can be made on the night, useing this tape based formatt (at the moment) Becuse my camera`s I-link out, goes to a bank of DVD recorders, phono out, drives the commentaters moniter and headphones. Which leaves the HDMI out, Which hopefully will provide a solution and drive a CF card recorder, so I can bypass the BBC and send the Cards direct to Horizen 247 Productions. For some unforseen reason the BBC wont send the master tapes to Horizen 247 Productions (Premier Sports) this was never a problem with Telvideo (Sky) as the BBC always sent the tapes to them, with no problems. Until a CF recorder can be sorted out (with the goodwill of Horizen) I will be making an extra DVD copy to send to Horizen. Things are never as simple as they seem and the BBC are not helping matters. I think they will be getting a phone call from GM when he gets back from Italy and I bring him up to speed on whats happerning.

Cheers Unicorn. I would assume most of us were wondering why a DVD copy didn't go to Premier, but obviously you were expecting the tapes to go to them, so fair enough and apologies if my original post sounded like a dig.

What I did not like about the commentator and his guest was that they should be neutral. They were on Cardiffs band wagon all night. No mention that we were down to 9 imports. Only 1 import defence. Farmer arrived straight from the airport after an overnight journey from North America. 3 players still not 100% fit. 5th game in 9 days including 1 Day travelling from Northern Italy. He did mention reserve net minder though. But then in the interview at the end they were writing us off for the season. He annoyed me as well about clapping the team off. Panthers fans always clap the visitors off .. win or lose! One game does not make a season. We live to fight another day. Let's hope for a turn around result tomorrow and we get Craig and Werner back asap.
Let's hope his commentating improves and he learns a few more rules!

They also have a few production issues to iron out aswell. Showed Belfast and Coventry logos for the end of the period stats Showed that they are covering a different game on the 28th and not the Steelers - Panthers game and Murph had to correct this. At the end it still said the commentators were Murphy and Ben Olson. And not to mention the missing of part of the Cardiff goals on the replays Gotta also say that Murphys voice does grate on me a little, but there nothing that can be done about that.

How many times does 'Murph' (?) have to repeat the phrase "whacking at it like Lumberjacks" before he realises its been said too much?
Yes we understand its generally considered a 'Canadian' game but gees, some of the tired, clichéd 'Canadian commentator' expressions he uses don't get aired that often in Coach's Corner and Grapes is the king of corny!

For me it was the use of the word 'there' all the time. 'nice pass there' 'battling for the puck there' 'big shot there' 'nice save there' WHERE?

Another one - "he goes topshelf where mamma keeps the cookies jar". Overall I didnt mind Murph too much - just listen to GM on Panthers DVD's and he will grow on you.

Yeah I meant on the extra games added I'm January Think every team gets a live appearance in the next 6 weeks, so being fair and spreading it accross all the teams. Expect Panthers will feature at least once in February, as saturday games include playing Steelers twice & belfast once.

It must be the attraction of Brent Pope's 'Hat Trick', or perhaps he actually swops heads, like Worzel Gummidge used to?

I love the coverage and all the different camera angles ect, but the commentary is shocking, the bloke gets excited every time a team takes the puck over the blue line and he makes u think a team will score, I liked simms doing it on sky as he was very rare unfair, we have watched the last 3 games on mute as me and my mate cant stand his annoying voice and punch lines!!

How anyone can compare the KFC clown to Murph is beyond me. One is a proper Journalist who has covered stanley cup final games the other is an estate agent who's ego makes him jealous of any development the league may get if it doesnt involve him.

Personally I love the coverage and all of these live games *plus* the previous week roundup at the start. Very rare that we get the chance to watch other clubs that we don't support and I think that being able to do that is good for the sport and depth of knowledge of the fan base just as it does with just about every other sport out there. Quite staggering really to hear people moan about the commentary when we have GM the GM on our DVD's to be honest.
