Yeh i was thinking that about the pen shot!, But the puck never went in im certain of it! The puck definitely went in net bulged slightly when it hit off the back bar.

me thinks cloutman needs to go to Specsavers after tonights performance, the puck hit the underside of the net ( why do have goal judges for when then miss perfectley good goals) also why we did not get a penalty shot when our player was brought down clear on goal? and why was "donkey" payette not thrown out for being 3rd man

It's all been said really. We could still be there now and Panthers wouldn't have scored. The Vipers penalty kill were exemplory, closing down our puck carrier almost immediately. We on the other hand needed far to much time to make the pass, when it was made it was far to slow and there were no first time shots, making life fairly comfortable for Aubry. Jonathan Weaver was outstanding for me. Seemed to be on the ice all night and made only one mistake when he pulled down McAslan as he tried to go between the 2 D men. - And he created their goal with a first timer from the blue line which Rasto did well to get a pad to, but could do nothing about Hinks' effort. We didn't get any bounces and we didn't get what the effort and dominance deserved, but there's a lack of quality on the forward line, which this game against a side doing little other than defend exposed.

Strange what a difference there is in 24 hours.
Yesterday we scored 3 pp goals
Today our pp was (quotes) terrible, absolute disgrace, predictable and badly executed
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't work!

what a frustrating night, first i only jsut make the rink because trains are poor and then see such a weird game, i was fed up of Payette, the novelty of this guy soon wwears thin(i loved the chicken chant towards payette and music for him was kewl though) when Shmyr normally fights thats it and then theres no hard feelings kinda thing, but this guys a goon, what he did to Simoes was disgusting, the league would be a better team without him.
I think we had momants where we were hot, i mean the maca brakeaway was just one momant, Aubry kept them in it, we could have 4 or 5, i think we had at least one legal goal disallowed,
i love rasti, plays with passion and just when you think he is beat he pulls of the save, first time i saw hima nd im more than happy, i jus feel sorry for him wth the language barrier, he looked really confused during the time out, i hope it does not effect him settling as i think he will turn out to be a real gem and fan favourite, i love the getting the crowd to cheer at the end, a real character, welcome to nittingham mate.

Yeh i was thinking that about the pen shot!, But the puck never went in im certain of it! it wasn't a penalty shot because as far as i'm aware he wasn't actully clear from the blue line and you have to be totally clear from the blue line . but i think there defenders were inside the blue line when McAslan broke through the middle of them . for a penalty shot to be awarded you have to be clear through on goal from the blue line and then be prevented from taking a shot on goal

From where I was sat, virtually in line with the goal, the shot that players and fans thought was in, hit the bar. No goal for me. explain how it came out at that angle off the bar? the only way it could of come out like that was if it hit the back bar The bar's round tubing, it can come off at any angle depending on where it hits. Didn't say you had to agree, my opinion is it didn't go in.

The Vipers penalty kill were exemplory, closing down our puck carrier almost immediately. We on the other hand needed far to much time to make the pass, when it was made it was far to slow and there were no first time shots, making life fairly comfortable for Aubry. Yes, even when we were 5 on 3 the Vipers defence was virtually static in front of Aubry - we couldn't pull them out of position for love nor money. Vipers on the other hand had a man spare on our unguarded back post on more than one occasion - fortunately they only managed to convert the one chance - but it proved sufficient. Whatever we did right in Newcastle on Saturday night, the Vipers seemed to have sussed it out and countered it. They dominated the centre of the ice and reduced us to trying to bank passes off the boards to get through the neutral zone but we didn't make much of a fist of it. The Vipers kept us well to the outside in their zone and disrupted the lanes well. Most of the shots we had were from distance with Aubry well sighted and positioned - routine saves for the most part. Don't think we had him scrambling all night. As for the "goal" - I'm not sure - my view of it was similar to Higgy's I think. My first thought was that it had gone in but on discussion and reflection, given the angle the shot was taken from, decided it had hit the under side of the bar and bounced out. Now they say the video shows it went in..... But videos can be deceptive and the goal judge didn't move a muscle..... Oh well, it's irrelevant now - the records shows it didn't go in and we spurned a couple of gilt edged chances apart from that. I shouldn't be too disappointed seeing as we've taken 6 of the last 8 points.... it's just that Plan A didn't work tonight and there didn't seem to be a Plan B

We should be good enough not to rely on "luck" . How many excuses are down to ''the bounce of the puck etc?"

Hi Mapleleafs. I`m above block 5 mate and I had a very good view. It was a goal. When viewed frame by frame it clearly go`s in hits the U shaped frame at the back / top of the goal and comes straight back out. But that did not lose us the game, our power play did why doe`s Ellis keep putting the same lines out when we all know it`s not working

The goal that was disallowed was a definite, we sit right on the RH side of the net at goal line level and the puck definetly went over the line, it hit the top of the net and then flew out at the same speed it went in!! Its about time there was live video filming on the goals during the games to prevent this sort of thing from happening, if this had been re-run it would have been proved that it was a goal! Also funny when Donkey tried two huge checks right in front of us and totally missed our players, Ee Aww!!!! Have to say like already mentioned ZT didn't exist tonight would like to see this reintroduced, yes there were a lot more stoppages in play when this was enforced but the speed of the game was a lot more entertaining!!

You are right Bangontheglass, all they had to do was stop the game for two minutes and we could have told him it was a goal. GM was trying his best to contact our bench to alert the ref, but Adam did not answer his phone well he did between 2nd & 3rd coaching staff don`t have their phones with them. Why our goal judge did not put the light on is a mystery to us all ??

difficult to call unless shown frame by frame. I thought it hit the back corener.
LOTS of iffy goals allowed/disallowed this season it seems.
Did anyone see the one in Cov that THEY scored. Hit the netting in the back and straight back out (tight nets in Cov!) Not even the cov fans didnt see it in!
Last night.... what went wrong. As Mark was saying... how can we lose when our goalie had so little to do?
Couldnt score in a ..... well you get the idea. 2 or 3 practically open netters were missed. (1 by cards and 1 or 2 by stevens)
Despite the result still a lot happier than I was a few weeks ago. We at least played out there. (except when given a powerplay, our PP is bloody awful) Very nice to see Payette get his ass handed to him on a platter.

Over the last few weeks we in Shuff have had 'goal cam' TBH it has made no difference, it has now been shelved after Mr Aubry threatened to smash it to bits if it was not taken out!

which in fairness is quite a distance Yes, distance and perspective need to be taken into account - and can be misleading. Without seeing the video I can't comment though I remember the shot being from an acute angle across the goal, which could cause problems with perspective. Remember the goal that Michael Hicks gave against the Bison last season? With stills taken from the video it looked as though the puck was over the line but when it's path was plotted frame by frame it clearly came back off the post and never crossed the line. If in doubt then the referee doesn't award the goal. None of last night's officials (including the goal judge) seemed to think the puck entered the net. One or two of our players half heartedly claimed a goal but there were no wild celebrations and no reaction from the Newcastle players. So no surprise no goal was given even if the puck did cross the line.

Rasto had another good game.
Shmyr really did his job well tonight, its the first game i think wheres hes had to enforce for a lengthy period of time rather than just sorting it out strait away and he did it well, definitely got the edge over Payette and didnt play badly either.
we seemed very tired tonight and i think we were slightly unlucky, we had so many chance but just couldnt convert, i wasnt to annoyed as we seemed to put in the effort but really we should have capitalized on at least a quarter of our pp's, its a shame because it was two points there for the taking.
think they will come out all guns blazing next week.

Distance is irrelevant, my camera has a very good zoom and I was filming fairly tight at the time. Lets hope they show it on the news tonight.
