The Ashes 2013 Part Deux underway this week of course at the Gabba.
Good day 1, especially for He Who Shall Not Be Named (by the Aussie press).
Not so good day 2, old school collapse. In a hole now.

Centuries from Clarke and Warner, and a fifty from Haddin get Aus to 401-7 declared, setting England 561 to win.
24 for 2 in response... sigh.

Looks like another one headed their way, need 371 to avoid the follow on (chasing 570-9 dec.), closed on 35-1. Not managed 400 once in our last 18 innings, don't see why we'll start now.

Not looking good. A couple of em need to stand up big time. Well, that didn't happen Been pretty pathetic really, but the signs were there in the summer and seem to have been largely ignored.

Wont get any easier - Perth next; we need to fight fire with fire and throw some quicks in otherwise it's 3-0 and all over. Would imagine Monty may miss out so Finn (90 mph) may play? Who knows? Worrying times though for our test team with more questions than answers. How long will Trott be out? How long before KP retires? What's happened to Cook and Prior? Is Swann past his best? Is Carberry the long term answer to open with Cook? Where does Root bat, 3? 6? How many miles has Anderson got left in the tank? Blimey, more questions than i thought

Well this series will be over in a few hours time. Pathetic lack of resistance.

We fluked a win in the summer by virtue of being marginally less crap than the Aussies. Cook is the worst captain we have had in a long time, and will now be remembered as the captain that lost the Ashes after 7 years.
Time to retire the old guard and build again around the likes of Root, Bairstow etc.
Cook must be sacked on his return home, not good enough.

I thought, stupidly, that after getting a first innings lead we might have a chance of building a winning total. Then again I had been drinking.
Only good thing about this Ashes series has been seeing the cretinous Piers Morgan physically hurt by Brett Lee the other day.

Sport as we know is momentum led, and when we had them in trouble on the very first day was that the series decider, had we got them out cheaply, the press would have hammered their fragile confidence, instead they dominated from day two and have done every day since, we have not become a bad team overnight or Cook a bad captain just a very low in confidence team,
We need to regroup bring in some talented younger players that we have in abundance in the counties move on and create another strong team. Also much as he was a hero of mine comments from the likes of Boycott and the moron Piers Morgan do not help the situation it is a bit like kicking a man when they are down to me.

I think the current XI has definiely peaked and is in decline. Time to get some fresh blood in.
Off the top of my head, we need to seriously think about the following:-
James Taylor Gary Ballance Scott Borthwick Boyd Rankin
Also, your best batsman should bat at 3 so get Bell up the order. Prior will come good and shouldn't be discarded. Stokes despite his ton is one place to high up the order. Finally, decide where Joe Root's best position is and stop moving him up and down the order. I can't think of any outstanding candidates to open with the skipper so I'd be tempted to give Root an extended run at the top of the order.
Cook Root Bell KP Taylor Ballance Stokes Prior Bresnan/Rankin Broad Anderson
Slot Borthwick in as and when required - if he's not playing then surely Root/KP can bowl a few overs of spin?

Plumbed new depths this morning, 61 for 5 at lunch. It's like they're trying to find ways to embarrass themselves further. Least this is the end of it.

I have no idea why but I'm still up watching the bunch of clowns at 4.10. Just avoided the follow on! HOORAY!!!
Apparently 5-0 was 50/1 before the series started. I feel a bit sorry for the fans who have been out there for the whole sorry trip. I'm sure it's still a fantastic experience but they must be copping for some shocking stick at the moment.

This tour gets worse.
Just lost the latest ODI despite a healthy score of 300 to defend.
Australia needing 57 runs off 6 overs with only 1 wicket remaining still manage to beat us.
Are they really good or are we just really bad?

Blimey, we lost that? I was half following it at work this morning and we looked well set when I last noticed, they were falling regularly. Defeat from the jaws, we're just not very good.

As usual when things go belly up - crap - the worst - sack -- etc. Cook needs to go as 1 day captain and should have gone with 2 to go to give Morgan a chance of experience. Cook is only the real viable 5 day captain at present - not imaginative enough, but give him time to reflect and chat to the likes of Gouch etc. Very sad to see Flower go - KP might have had bust ups with him if we read all and believe. Maybe he had had enough of an uneasy stand off. Swann has gone but real plus to balance the Attack with Stokes coming in. What concerns me is the spin department - maybe Yorks might offer an option. I think Nemesis would have all the Yorks team in - Root will come again - a momentary set back, but Bairstowe worries me technique wise ( and Sir Geoffrey). I expect Pryor to get back. Balance is a plus (have to placate Nemesis) - I would not rule out Stoneman at Durham as an opener, but we have to sort that out quickly.
