If Kowalski had got injured in the preseason game, people would have said "Why didn't he play Green in the nothing game"
Kowalski clearly felt he got enough game time, why risk him doing a groin or something in a game where the result doesnt matter.

if k wall can't handle a warm up game, we're screwed for the rest of the season.
just worth a mention, Steelers beat Blaze last night with Woolhouse in nets for 60 mins... we definately down graded on that exchange.

As Shaggy has said there seems to be a small vocal minority on here who think they speak for the majority. There may well be but I don't feel the need to speak for anyone other than myself. Using the rather rotund crowd members seen on an average home game as an example, it seems Nottingham Panthers fans are big enough and ugly enough to fight their own battles. Of course I also don't feel the need to wave around other poster's comments in a desperate attempt to justify and support my own. (As seems to be the vogue for young folk these days)...."just saying"....

It isnt like Green needs the practice as he shouldnt play a game all season, if he does i want to know before hand so i can do something better than raise my blood pressure...
There are times i grant you that the No 1 keeper gets injured but if that happens then imho we are screwed (as are most clubs but i would have hoped we had at least a proficient backup being one of the bigger clubs in the league) as i think there is an all time low as far as faith in our current backup is concerned. I feel for Green i really do but imho he isnt good enough to back stop the panthers on even a temporary basis.

with Fox Benedict Ling and Werner hopefully here for this one (although all very quiet on Benedict and Werner...) anything less than a win would be a diasaster. 7-2 for me

Would expect us to win regardless of who is here but in all honesty this is just a competitive friendly before the league game Sunday. Lose and it makes no difference, we will still take enough points to make 4th out of 5 in the Challenge Cup Group.

Should've made Craze an offer tbh.
From all accounts, Green is mint in training, so it's obviously a confidence problem playing for us. Get him to the Lions now as their number 1 and only bring him in for the odd game to "keep him in the mix".
As for the weekends games. They were ok tbh. Bit niggly, some good goals, some bad mistakes...but that's what pre-season's for. Pity they were charged as full-price games - also, was there any mention of there being a deadline for ST holders to get discount tickets?!
Also can't believe that we were so down on imports, but that's being covered elsewhere.
For me the standout player of the weekend for us was Weaver. He just oozes quality.
Franny was his usual self (great to see), Lacho looks to have bulked up slightly and was certainly playing the body a lot more than usual - hope he keeps this up. Clarke also laid in some nice hits...but also backed out a few times.
The Peterborough lads should be made 2-way offers at least. Ferrara looks to have so much confidence in himself and was unlucky not to score on a number of occasions.
Beckett looked very ordinary in both first periods, but seemed to get into the games more as they wore on. Again - this is was pre-season is for!
As for Asiago, their number 19 looked really good in the first game, and in the second game the young lad Vigilante showed some good stuff - including making Tuma look like he was standing still at one point.

the one thing that concerns me, having not gone to the warm up games, is the lack of enthusiasm round the new signings that were there... no one seems to be mentioning anything about them.
does this mean they seemed bad/ good or am i just missing somthing, i don't think anyones really mentioned graham, or galivan...
heard a few comments that beckett needs to improve and tuma looked overweight, nothing much more??

Beckett was probably my man of the match yesterday, solid and intelligent. Galivan will be very good. Graham needs time to get sharpness always the case with big guys, buy has soft hands. Tuma having not skated since March unsuprisingly looked out of shape, but showed some quality. Weaver showed why, if staying fit, he will prove to be a shrewd move by Corey.

I agree, Green is signed as a back-up he should'nt play unless K-Wall is unavailable/injured. I get so annoyed when we get a couple of goals up and Green goes in! Why does Corey have to let him play a few games a season!? Let him practice in training and stick with K-Wall!

4-2 Panthers is my prediction. Think it will be closer then most people think I agree - Dundee could cause a few shocks this season. Panthers by 2 goals and Sami to get MOM for Stars

Not sure if mentioned earlier but I think worth a mention, I thought Luke ferrara had 2 excellent games and has the makings of A good player. Fast, kept his head up and good size

I was in Fife for the weekend and I have to say Dundee were average at best! I'm not sure if they have a few more players to sign but I can't see them being a threat. On the other hand Fife looked sharp, which was great, so hopefully they can get a respectable place in the league. Overall, I think there is a huge north south divide and with the exception of Braehead, when at full strength, I can't see any of the Scottish teams causing us too much trouble.

They are missing quite a few imports, due to visa issues!
