As the Star said "spending spree". They are looking very hard to beat, and for my money (with a couple of spare spots)are looking favourites. The only flaw in their roster is the thug.

Agree about the thug. Looks a strange signing. Swap him for a Colt King, Leigh Salters and the roster would look even more impressive. At the stage it looks to me that they are a distance out in front of the rest on paper. With 9 imports signed so far Sheffield's roster boasts 118 NHL games and 1886 AHL games. Nottingham are the closest with 51 NHL and 1515 AHL games with 11 imports signed. After that Coventry have 0 NHL and 804 AHL games with 11 imports. Cardiff Devils have 4 NHL and 545 AHL games with 10 imports, Finally Belfast Giants have 0 NHL and 346 AHL games with 9 imports to date.

Pressure is on Sheffield to clean up this year no question. If they don't questions will be asked

Steelers appear on paper to be strong however majority of signings are not by DC as a recruiter. It appears Doyle fell into their lap as Cardiff couldn"t offer the deal, Goertzen has recruited the last two signings as reported in their paper and site and Mayer chose the dollars over Belfast and Braeheads best offers. Once the fans see the cross ice dump in's and defncive style of DC's they maybe wondering what type of team did they sign. It will be interesting division but I wouldn't concede any trophies just yet as both Cardiff and Notts are contenders as well.

Sheffield are looking incredibly strong and are going to be hard to beat. It would appear that Doug has been given significant funds this year, so surely, on paper, they should clean up.

Cardiff going with 5 import D and Richardson? They shouldn't concede too many, then.

Devils roster complete. They look pretty strong this season going with 11 imports from the off. They could line up something like.
CONBOY FAULKNER BLIGHT
HILL MYERS LORD
BIRBRAER DAVIES BATCH
JONES PIGGOTT QUINEY
MARSH SMITH
ROSS RICHARDSON
PLUMTON ADAMS
LA COSTA
MYERS

Looks another cracking signing for Sheffield. Some serious ECHL numbers and a ton of AHL games again.
Looking at his stats in a bit more depth they are very similar to those of Jordan Fox. Steelers starting to look pretty awesome on paper and a way off the chart in terms of the other teams.

Those high calibre players steelers have signed wont be head and shoulders above others and you ll realise why they still ain't playing in the better leagues .

I obviously hope you are right Pidge but until we see the teams on the Ice, paper is the only thing we have to speculate about. Sheffield's roster looks considerably more expensive than any other at this point in my opinion.
