I knew it wouldn't be long before Mr Shaggy ( what he doesn't know, isn't worth knowing ) joined in Anyway the hit occurred he got tossed from the game . End of . I ll wait with interest now til the next time a flyer , star or wild player gets thrown out of a game for a hit , unfortunately that will have to be next season for 2 of the teams

I ll wait with interest now til the next time a flyer , star or wild player gets thrown out of a game for a hit , unfortunately that will have to be next season for 2 of the teams So you're not actually going to debate the facts of the matter... just make personal attacks, make out that other people are being arrogant know-it-alls (somewhat hypocritical from someone who comes out with phrases like "If you think that's charging you don't know what hitting is" and "I ain't discussing the hit with you any more because quite clearly you seem to know more about the game than people who have played it and Mr Newham is never wrong is he ?" ). As for it being called 'Charging'... this is the official NHL definition of the penalty:- Which is, it has to be said, somewhat vague in description ("violently check" )... however, the key words there have to be "jumps into". Abdelkader jumped into that hit, no question (as I said... without that part, the hit probably would have been perfectly clean & fair). Come on, Pidge - how about debating the facts instead of constantly getting personal?

Lydman didn't have his head down either then shaggy . Cut all this anti wings poo poo for a change hey and see the hit for what it was a hard clean hit . Similar to what lepine did to globke . Who thought that was dirty at the time .

Who thought that was dirty at the time . For a start, let's get one thing out of the way... I'm not, as you put it, "anti wings"... quite frankly, I dislike Anaheim more than I do Detroit (quite frankly, I couldn't give a toss either way about Detroit, they're just another opposition team as far as I'm concerned - neither liked nor disliked overly much). This is one of your big problems, Pidge - you see anything that goes against Detroit - or even anything not fully in their favour - as being "anti wings"... and it's not. As for Lydman having his head down... what's that got to do with anything? Did you not read what I said earlier? - were it not for Abdelkader jumping up into the hit, I think it would have been a clean hit. But it wasn't, because he DID jump into it, and did go for the head. He didn't need to leave his feet... he didn't need to quite deliberately drive upwards into the hit. But he did. There's no "anti wings" agenda here, Pidge... there's not even any 'anti Pidge' agenda (although your blinkered extremism could well get things going that way)... regardless of who the player was, which team he plays for... it was a bad hit. It's as plain and as simple as that.

For what it's worth I think it's a bad dangerous hit - I think he's going to be getting a few games for that.

Pidge is writing the How Not To Argue 101 here. Make a silly point, argue and insult everyone who disagrees and then disappear when you're proved wrong. 2 games is about right. Not bad enough for a 5, but worse than a 1.
Shanny must be anti-Wings too!

Ever thought Shanahan did you a favour? Abdelkader got a telephone hearing, which has an upper limit on the number of games a player can receive as a suspension... I think that limit is 2 games. Which is what he got. If it had been an in-person hearing, he could have got more, and I think that probably would have been the case. I believe that it's up to Shanahan which type of hearing the player gets... and he chose the one where any damage to the Wings was limited. Actually, as Moderators, we have to read your posts. Oh joy and rapture. It's your responsibility as a forum member to post within the rules and in a responsible manner. You've already agreed to that... so maybe you should start doing so.

Two games is fair; silly hit that really wasn't needed.

Just watched Hawks/Wild Game 3... a MUCH better showing from Minnesota! They had some blistering chances, and it was only luck & a few damned good saves by Crawford that kept Chicago from having a nasty regulation-time surprise...
It's not going to be enough, of course... I'm enough of a realist to realise that. Chicago have just too much depth, too much skill. They rule centre ice... Minnesota were dangerous when they could break through that, but otherwise were on the back foot a lot of the time, with only some heroic defending keeping them in it.
Just our bad luck to be drawn against the team that held the #1 spot in the league for virtually the entire (shortened) season. A 24-game winning streak, wasn't it? Oh well...

Boom and this series is locked at 2 . Wings twice came back from a goal down and Brunner got the winner in OT. Somehow the ducks only had one pen all night !! We had a goal ruled out as well . On the other hand this game wouldn't have gone to OT were it not for Jonas Hiller stopping 46 of 49 shots
Oh and u thought that hit was a beaut from Abs in game 3 . Kronwall bettered that tonight on Palmeiro . Result .. No pen !!! Eh shaggy check it out .

TOR need to start making the opposition earn their victories as opposed to brain cramps & lethargic play simply handing it on a platter; only a matter of time before BOS go up a gear to get a series win.

Islanders doing the business too. I'd love them to beat the Pens.

Another close one in at the Honda centre, this series could go to 7 games i feel . Not bad for a youthful team who scraped into the play off picture on the last weekend of the season

As much as I rate Krejci, TOR gave that game away last; 2-0 up and lose 4-3 in OT isn't acceptable.
