interesting point, i can see where he is coming from as far as Super League is concerned. but Basket ball and Ice hockey are not British sports.
I do think a relegation and promotion system between leagues would be a good thing in these sports though, as it would encourage improvements at the lower level of the top flight, and those wanting promotion.
however for it to work the gulf between the leagues needs to be lessened, as if this was brought in i think it could have a negative impact as some clubs won't want to play at the eliete level yet... they won't be ready and so would not aim for it, whereas now they would be gunning for the title... the jump up in expense and leagues may not be desired....

Do EPL teams want to be promoted to the EIHL? Do ENL teams want to be promoted to the EPL?
If all the teams wanted to arrange the leagues into a ladder structure and have promotion and relegation, I'd be all for it, but I don't think they do want that, they just want to play in a league they can afford to play in.

Exactly. If three of the EPL teams were in a position to play in the EIHL I'd bet my house they'd already be doing it.
