"Set to sign" does not mean he has yet.

I am going to say that is a good move by Steelers
Did Devils actually axe Lyle or do you think they knew he was leaving them ?
I thought De Caro was a weak link at Steelers - if Lyle can play like he did last weekend for them then I dont think they have lost anything in terms of netminding and they have saved an import
I obviously want K-wall to stay at Panthers but if that didnt happen I would have been happy for us to sign Lyle ourselves

Would be a good move for Sheffield.
Can't be worse than DeRebound.
They would be able to go with 4 import D plus Thomas and 6 import forwards plus Shields, Tait and Phillips with Hewitt as 10th forward.

I think this is a terrifying prospect for Panthers (apart from Thomas!). Already looks like Steelers are going all out next season and will take some beating. I've got a big fear we're going to lose Myers, and that will leave us from a starting point way behind Sheffield and Belfast.

Myers is going nowhere. Lyle played at his very best at the weekend, he won't keep that up week in week out in the league. They have a lot of returning players next year, who won nothing this year.

A lot of returning players?? Only Legue and Sarich of the imports are confirmed. Stephenson is on a 2 year but just like DeDropsy he looks like he's on his way too. So that leaves 8 new imports, not so many returning then. Although there are better goalies out there than Lyle the benefit of that extra import outskater cannot be underestimated. 5 Import D with Thomas infront of Lyle (as long as the imports are solid) will give him all the protection he needs. Unless of course we go with 6 import forwards and have a 3rd line of Shields/Phillips/Tait with Hewitt/Esders/Squires to make a 4th line.

With these high profile Brits arriving at Sheffield Shields and possibly Lyle and with to stellar EIHL'ers in Legue and Sarich coming back do you think the new batch of imports won't be as good as some of the imports in the past? Unless Sheffield in 2013 want to have another summer of uncertainty.

Unless Sheffield in 2013 want to have another summer of uncertainty. I'm not sure it's about being as good as previous players, it's more about getting the right players. But looking at the rumours so far for our potential targets, I'd say they are pretty much all upgrades on last season at the moment. As for the budget, TS will have the season ticket money in the kitty this year so I'm sure Finner will have some more to play with this coming year. It's upto TS to make sure that whatever budget he gives Finner doesn't put the club in jeopardy. Only time will tell on that front.

Billy Ryan has not been playing, he was released from his AHL side before the end of the season... Anyone like to see him back?
28+44...

Anyone like to see him back? 28+44... not really, can't deny he was great when he was here, but i think part of that was the partnership he had with Bellamy and at times he was just far to greedy. and seemed to play his own game rather than a team game.
