Sorry that was meant to be a reply to gazg: "Can anyone tell me, a guy in this league over the last 7 years who has made this sport more popular, or indeed a guy who people have wanted to watch? Two words. Craig Head. He also didn't try and smuggle drugs into Canada.

Payette, Cornish, Anglstad, Penner, McMorrow (off the top of my head in response to same question) Payette = Quite a few Vipers fans turned their backs on him and his lunacy in the end, bored of suspensions and misconducts. Some of his behaviour was outright nuts but the fact he's taken the Steeldogs to a cup semi final shows there's some hockey ability in there somewhere as well - and the ability to lead and coach a pretty young team. Cornish = Heart of a lion, game for fighting just about anyone...but didn't have the 'spark' Voth had. IMO he was the most predictable of all the enforcers, slightly dull but another one doing well as a coach in a lower league. Angelstad = Only here for a season and a half, not really long enough to have the impact Voth had, but probably the closest to Voth in terms of good attitude, work ethic etc. Penner and McMorrow = just plain nuts. Credit to McMorrow for the work he put in promoting the sport but no respect for him if he's found guilty of drug offences - no place for that in sport.

Shirt retirement no doubt? I'd be shocked if they didn't tbh. He is "the Mayor of Cardiff" afterall. As the majority have said - has been on the decline recently but still a big irritant especially in Cardiff's shed.

Only to try and cop out of getting a heavy sentence. I still think he's claiming it was a genuine mistake and not for dealing...

I didnt realise that hockey players had to be up standing members of the community. I dont care what they do off the ice, all I care about is their on ice actions.

I'm not saying I expect them to be saints, but is staying within the law too much to ask for these days? They're a group of lads, most of them in a foreign country, of course they're going to want to have fun. However, the moment it breaks the law or affects anyone's game is the moment it should be reined in, IMO.

I disagree, i dont expect them not to party, drink, enjoy the local wildlife (Bunnies ) but i do expect them not to break the law. Would you think it okay if one of your imports drank and drove/ sold drugs to fans in local nightclubs, a bit OTT i know but you get the gist. As for Voth, i agree that he took it a season too far and no, i wouldnt want his shirt retired BUT i will miss him, he was a massive figure on and off the ice. Players come and go but there will always be certain players who's names are mentioned years after they have left...all teams have them, Voth is one for the Devils.

Still gutted about Voth's retirement but glad they are retiring his shirt - he has been the heartbeat of the team for a long time now and thoroughly deserves it.
Still gutted though...
