From the Stir www.sheffieldtoday.net/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=59&ArticleID=873336As Amsterdam are also in the hunt, then Sheffield wont get him (who would you choose!) Not that it makes difference to the Panthers, the boys made these NHL 'stars' look average in Amiens The section about the poor ice at Ice Sheffield made me chuckle. Diana Ross didnt do at gig at Ice Sheffield last week did she?? ;D ;D Regards HL

Well whoever this guy is (that probably won't sign for us anyway), at least he sounds like the real deal, and not some AHL'er that was "Bigged Up" on the back of a few "Gifted" games in the NHL. The poor ice thing is just a red herring, just a throwaway comment that HL thought was a good excuse for reminding us Steelers of your narrow CC victory. BTW, I hope Gary has been polishing the CC trophy, it'll need to be sparkling when he has to hand it over to the new CC winners

I thought the report mentioned only a league affected by the NHL lockout which includes the AHL, ECHL and pretty much every other professional league on the planet. I'd wait and see who it is before calling him the real deal.

Glynn M, his team are so poor he has to try and grab a crumb of comfort by taking snide digs at the Panthers. Of course any player linked to the Sheffield Steelers is the real deal and anyone else is a waste of time. We,ve been over all this many times before with Glynn M, his opinion isn't worth jack where Panthers are concerned. We've just had a great weekend and despite going out on goal difference Panthers were unbeaten and were outstanding in all three games. This has obviously stung Glynn M and instead of showing Panthers some respect for their achievements, (respect being something he expected all fans to show his beloved Steelers last season), he resorts to cheap jibes. Ignore this narrow minded ignoramus.

So if we can contain Milans 1st line of NHL ers (over 1000 games between them) for 60 mins, not 1 point against us, we shouldn t have a problem against whoever this guy is ;D

I was sitting next to a mate at the Amiens match who brought his steelers wife for the weekend, and she said she said she had a brill time really enjoyed it and thought we were fab, its a pity not all sheffield fans have the same attitude to a fellow british club .

I think you'll find that most Sheffield fans were rooting for the panthers to do well in Europe, and also Glynn was one of them. Yes your right, some will have enjoyed your failings by goal difference (which to be fair, was closer to getting through that when we was last in CC losing on the final day) but the general consensus is that you've done the game in this country the world of good. That is where a lot of us will be appreciative!!! BTW - It wernt Panther Jack you are on about was it??

Everything is a dig, a jibe etc. As for wanting the Panthers to do well in Europe, I doubt it, I've read his " Awwww poor Panthers" post on Steeltalk. Thanks to all those Steeler fans who wished Panthers well, I know there's probably more of you than those of Glynn M's ilk.

You mean, everything that you can be bothered to read is a cheap dig, jibe etc. Nice to see you missed this posting How Cruel, it seems that the Panthers needed to beat the hosts Amiens by 10 clear goals to progress and beat Milan to the top spot. They finished the tourny with a 3-1 win and so were 8 goals short of making it to the next round as I understand it. Shame Or again, was it missed as it does not go towards your argument. If you bother to read all his postings, not all are cheap digs jibes etc. To be honest, he's no worse than HL, but then I or Glynn dont get all over sensitive when the word Steeler is slagged off in any format, maybe you should try the same.

BDS,
You know very well that the post to which you refer is loaded with sarcasm. It is apparent in itself, but confirmation is provided by reading his earlier posts in the same thread. He has at no point spoken positively of Panthers fantastic weekend + his attitude is pathetic. I hope he takes note of the mature and applaudable comments made here and elsewhere, by both Steelers and other fans regarding the weekend, and realises how peurile his own comments were.

Now i have Wadede through the entire thread and I have found minimal mention of the original Topic! Without reading the Article on the link, you wouldn't have the foggiest about what is going on. With regards to The argument about the support by Steeler fans is a little harsh. For me, I would say that the result is the best for Steeler fans. We Came back Haveing not got through . WE DID However raise the profile of... 1.) ICE HOCKEY to the "blind" people of the UK 2.) Ice hockey to the rest of Europe / World. ;D This will lead to better players coming over, better sponsorship deals (Less Clubs folding), Higher attendences, More youngsters playing in the UK. All of which are good things be it for Panthers, Steelers, Bracknal, The Vipers, The Lions, Any team that accociates itself to the Sport. If people want to argue about suppoters from other clubs supporting other Clubs in Crucial situations then look at it this way, How many Panthers fans let out a little cheer when they herd Leavers got the first goal against Steelers? Panthers had no direct involvment, Just the same as Steer fans not "Cheering on Panthers" Be all and end all to think that all steeler fans would cheer us on is being stupid. I can only aplaurd the ones who did want us to do well.

Absolutely spot on Martin. BDS accuses me of not reading the whole thread whilst cherry picking a select portion, which on it's own seems reasonable. Taken in context with the rest of the post, it drips sarcasm.
