Yeah my point too on the previous page was this is all very very fishy, the swapping of players between Shuff, Coventry and Hull.

I do believe attacking someone over their age, or inferring their age is low due to a comment. That action is against forum rules good fellow.
And Jog on was said by Simon Pegg in several movies he's done, i didint see his age brought into contention over that! So how about you just take apart his statement and not him. K Thanks.

"We have open dialogue with Coventry on many levels and through those realised there was a deal to be done. "We spoke at length with Thommo (Blaze head coach Paul Thompson) and Luke, and quickly agreed a deal that will see him make his debut on Saturday against Cardiff.
That doesnt read to me as it was done after he was released, to me it reads as if they were in conversation about this for a period of time

I have to disagree, to me it seems like the Steelers had discussions with the Blaze and this led to Fulghums 'release' and subsiquent signing for the Steelers ... In my mind the fact that Fulghum would be released by one team then signed by a new one the next day is not abnormal, but the fact Coventry said he was released with immediate effect and then the next day Sheffield say there were talks taking place and a deal reached does not make sense, and when something doesn't make sense it's usually not true ... As LUFC said this is all very fishy

I wonder if this is a sign that money is tight down in Coventry.
They've not got off to a great start and on the back of last seasons performances I'm guessing crowds are down.
I don't know what the crowd was when you played them in the Challenge Cup dead rubber last week, but I suspect it was a lot less than there would have been had there been something to play for.
Lower crowds = Less revenue.....Is this Blaze cutting costs, especially as they now have to fund Hull as well?
It's certainly a very strange move and I doubt it's performance related, so I would guess cost cutting or a fall out.
Someone on Steeltalk has suggested we were offered Dave Phillips first, but turned that down......That is purely a rumour though.

Doom

Regards Doom To be fair Doom, from what i've seen of Phillips this season, you were right to turn him down. Big letdown, was looking forward to see him play but his reputation (AHL etc) and ego (maybe) far outweigh his talent IMHO. Maybe they are struggling financially, but Fulghum out and Bakrlik (sp) in? How much has that saved them?

Maybe Fulghum is just an arse of a bloke. Wonder why Finnerty signed him....

Whats fishy about it, coventry released him for some reason that only they know and the steelers moved in quickly to sign up a top quality player, christmas has come early for the steelers, add to this our league needs players like luke fulghum, .

I was under the impression they didn't bother because of the costs involved. Regards Doom

There certainly used to be insurance. One of my favourite players, Jarrett Zukiwsky played for us in 1998/99. He had a spell out with injury and was paid by insurance. I know this because when he was fit to play again, the club delayed his come back so that they didnt have to pay him.
Whether they bother now is a different matter.

Don't worry about it.
I have thought of a really clever way around this.
Run up a massive debt and then just declare the club bankrupt at the end of the season.
The best part of this plan is that you can just create a new company and start again next September then do it all again.
What do you reckon?

Regards Doom I dont know doom thats why i said "id guess" i would think the insurance would pay something or there would not be any point having any I don't think that legally clubs have to have any kind of insurance to cover players wages. They probably have to carry all kinds of "liability" cover but no legal requirement to carry a policy to cover wages i would imagine. Down to each individual club i imagine and on a "cost versus benefit" analysis to decide whether it's worth paying the premiums.
