Because some people who go to church volunteer there, serve for around 10-12 hours a Sunday and think its unfair that seeing as the shops are open 10-4:30 that they should pay even though the shops are shut The shops shut at 4:30, so if someone goes to church at 6:30 they have to pay, thats not right! So? Plenty of other people (not me, I hasten to add) volunteer for all sorts of things - they don't get any special dispensation. Why should churchgoers? Think its different as there is no major car park near talbot street. Plus, if we didnt get a rate reduction then a vast majority of the church wouldnt be able to make it, so many activites would have to be cancelled as the parking wouldnt be cheap as we would need 2 hours minimum. It seems pointless to charge on a sunday till 8 when the shops shut at 4:30, regardless of any church/religious activities no?

Oh well, if they can't make it or afford parking then its one of those things, just the same as anyone else who might want to do something in town but possibly can't afford the parking charges. The reason they are charging until 8 on a sunday, is just to make money from events on at the arena and people who have gone to restaurants. Yet none of this extra money they recieve will go back into improving Nottingham City Centre.

What needs to happen is that the City Council have to start attracting people into the city center, yet all they have done to date is put people off wanting to travel into the city center, by making it more and more expensive.

What needs to happen is that the City Council have to start attracting people into the city center, yet all they have done to date is put people off wanting to travel into the city center, by making it more and more expensive. And... part 2.

you can do what you like, just don't expect people to accept that bible bashers get special treatment.

THere is: www.talbotstreetcarpark.co.uk/and the smaller one opposite rock city.... how much parking do churches need? Also why should church groups get priority over people who want to do other things in town?

Depends how many go seedy, around 1200+ to the one on T Street thats doesn't equate to 1200 cars though. unless none of them walk or use public transport and they all come on their own. highly unlikey... well i guess you could say as likley as a man coming back from the dead 2000 years ago .

Put your car in a shed, then you can park it anywhere

So tonight was the first taste of the changes, and I think its a mess. Having a one hour maximum stay on the side roads near the arena means you cant park there for the hockey, unless you park bang on 7pm and then leg it in.
High Pavement is now no parking until 8pm. They could have made it 2 hour controlled parking between 6 and 8 and made money out of it.
Stoney Street is now double yellow lines. There is hardly ever much traffic along that street, and this seems ridiculous.
If the restrictions are similar around Chaucer Street and Clarendon Street, our trips into Nottingham at the weekends and in the evenings will be far less frequent than they are now.
Cineworld will struggle against the free parking offered by Showcase and The Savoy, and there are plenty of restaurants around the edges of the town where you can park free.
Whilst its a bit further to walk, Talbot Street will be getting our custom when we do have to use a car park. £4 if you pre pay after 5pm is much better value than the ones closer to the arena.
