I hated adds in F1 races and don't want them back. I'd prefer a few add breaks to paying ~£400 to watch 10 races though!

Don't blame him. He'll get to commentate all the races live and probably get paid a damn site more too. No-brainer for him really. Wouldn't surprise me to see Coulthard and Kravitz go with him. I reckon Humphrey will stay with the Beeb though as I reckon they're grooming him for bigger and better gigs. He's probably got an eye on this big sporting event that's planned for July 2012.

works fine for me, i'm sure Sky will do a better job of improving the coverage. So... It turns out skys idea of covering F1 is to broadcast a dedicated channel sky sports F1 HD from march 2012... Awesome!! f1.sky.com/?DCMP=BAC-brand-SkyF1-Google-PPC-58670477_0_234110348?DCMP=KNC-all full sky sports and HD subscribers get free access to : •EVERY RACE LIVE - available in HD and with no advertising breaks during races •PRACTICE & QUALIFYING - each practice and qualifying session live and available in HD •MORE F1™ SHOWS – brand new analysis and highlights shows •MORE LIVE CONTENT – extra coverage through Sky's red button interactive service •ACCESS – Available online, on mobile and on iPad with Sky Go, available to full Sky Sports and Sky HD subscribers

Yes, it all sounds very impressive. Trouble is, as someone who has no other need for Sky, I'd want a lot more than that for £600 per year. I could go and see a couple of Grand Prix with that.

I'm on same wavelength as you Doughnut. I don't have sky at all, no intentions of moving from Virgin, so there would need to be a massively good deal available from sky to get me to sign up. Am resigned to to tuning into BBC highlights, so hope the hype that they are giving about bringing a great highlights show lives up to expectation.

I understand that Sky show things on TV to get people to pay them to watch it. I'm not going to pay them £600 a year to show me 10 Grand Prix live though. Especially when I could go and see 2 of them in person for the same money. I'm a big F1 fan, but £60 a race to watch it live on TV when I can watch extended highlights a few hours later? That's crazy money!

thats assuming you get no value from the other channels that you would get for the £60 as well. (you would get the fabulous Sky Sports elite league highlights show ) but each to their own, i can respect your decision.

90 minutes highlight show the beeb said. And that includes interviews, analysis etc. Not sure you can tell the full story of a good race (and ALL the good races are on Sky except GB and Belgium) in that time.
Seriously looking at Sky now I have seen the list of live races BBC have got. Spain, Valencia, China zzzzz. I want the Canadian GP. The Australian GP. Normally Brazil is worth a watch (not this year though).

GB and Monaco are the main ones though, you missed out Belgium, I also like the Barcelona race, though I guess that's a personal thing as it's the first race I went to. The other point is that the US and Bahrain are 2 of Sky's 10 and it wouldn't surprise me if both get dropped from next year's calendar. The US is very very unlikely as building on the circuit has stopped, Bernie hasn't got his money, and the local government have said they're not going to give it to him. Bernie is still saying he thinks Bahrain will go ahead, but I'm not convinced.

Virgin get the channel in time for the season start. They're negotiating what package it's offered with atm though. I believe it's more than likely attached to the sky sports channels though :/
