I'm sure they will Lee but to some of us we can not afford sky. I am on virgin as my landlord won't let us have a dish, it would cost 22 quid a month to get it. Enjoy Lee, not many others will get the chance.

we'll see i guess.
if they take the presentation of it seriously you only have to see what they have done to golf, football, superleague and cricket, to see what can be done.
if they give it the same treatment ESPN do Nascar etc then there is real potential to improve it. i wonder what the potential is for 3D F1??
i can understand peoples frustration, but there is no given right that it belongs on national TV. Sky put the money into sports because they can, and alot of people are willing to pay for it, die hard fans who just can't live without F1 will take out sky now, so its worked for them...
those who already have sky have lost nothing.

Die hard F1 fan, not missed a race for 20 years without sky here. Cant afford to pay 40 odd quid a month for hockey and F1 (which is what it would cost). probably going to have to chose between the two big passions in my life. To say I'm Angry doesn't cover it.

cha=ching its all about the money. Mine is staying in my pocket. Will watch the races live on bbc, and then highlights as shown.
Not impressed.

I remember reading a while back that F1 cost the BBC as much as the whole of BBC4 and that they had to make a choice between the two. Seems like they've tried to compromise and got it horribly wrong!

not happy about this news at all, the only silver lining would be if Sky employ Martin Brundle I certainly hope they don't as I won't be getting Sky, so I hope he stays on the BBC. He's out of contract at the end of this year though so he's free to go to Sky if he wants. Sky would be nuts not to go after Brundle, whatever it costs.

Anyone else think the BBC's commitment to top level sport isn't what it's ought to be?
Afterall they're the only TV company which is effectively funded by what amounts to a tax on the public. They churn out plenty of mediocre guff while paying so called stars a small fortune, paid for by us.

They churn out plenty of mediocre guff while paying so called stars a small fortune, paid for by us. I think the BBC often get given a hard time unfairly. I agree that they churn out a lot of mediocre guff, but no more than any other network. They also do produce a lot of good stuff and are spread across a much wider range of content and distribution channels than most networks. Some of their celebrity wages have certainly been questionable and it does look as though there has been a fair amount of poor judgement in that area in the last decade or so. They seem to be cleaning up their act a bit on that score though. Their F1 coverage has been great, much better than on ITV. I'm gutted about F1 moving away from free to air (I'm pretty sure this is just the thin end of a wedge), but I understand the reasons why and it was probably inevitable sooner or later.

If this turns out to be true, then i'll be a relatively happy bunny. I'm sure i can avoid the result for a few after - in fact the optimal 12.10-3.15 quite often spoils the day 6/7pm start will suit me a lot better - as long as i win the fight for the remote. Wonder if there will be any pre-race chat with that?

Personally as long as BBCs on demand service online either stays the same or gets better then I'll be happy.
What are the odds that this was Burnie's plan all along and he figured that if they announced this plan from the start people would be unhappy. Having announced the extended highlights plan and got the bad reaction that he surely must have expected, people will see this as a good compromised.

could go like the Cricket once Sky get a toehold in any sport they seek to get it exclusively to themselves if they can!

Sure Sky will get it to themselves eventually. But the above proposals wont be too bad - especially if im on the weekend shift at work. As long as the Beeb keep their top coverage I'll be happy.

Unless you know the result and given the media onslaught everywhere these days you will know the result! I've been watching most races online on a Sunday or Monday evening lately and I usually manage to avoid the results. Just need to stay away from F1 threads on here, the sports pages, the F1 websites, Facebook and Twitter. I've been caught out a couple of times by forgetting to stay away from Facebook, but most the time it's not really an issue.

Its not too difficult. Bernie now saying beeb will not have full race re-runs, but 75 minute highlights. It aint the same.
