Nice touch at Basingstoke to travel on team bus a cost of £15.00 have we ever done anything like that?

Dear God why would you want to? ? The smell of linament, jock-straps and sticky tape would be overwhelming.

With 6 or 7 games left in the season last year Basingstoke hadn't had enough fans wishing to travel for it to be viable for their supporters club to put on a coach. I don't know if they did or not in the end but if this encourages more of their fans to travel then great.
I'm not sure I'd want to be there though if they go somewhere and take a beating like they did when they played Bracknell, might not be a great ride home!

Would be a good test for die-hard supporters. After seeing the ugly side of the players i.e. those psyching themselves up before the game, and those in a mood afterwards if they lost or had a stinker. I remember stories about Robins blanking everyone (coach included) up to 3 hours before games. If they are still fans after such an experience, then they can be called 'true fans' Also wonder if allowing fans to travel with the players may cause the players to be not 100% focussed on the task in hand.

Guess it depends on the players themselves. Some might enjoy it, others wouldn't... I guess the fan sat next to Robber wouldn't like it...Ignored on the way down, and then ignored on the way back if he's had a stinker in goal ;D

Also wonder if allowing fans to travel with the players may cause the players to be not 100% focussed on the task in hand. That IMHO is a perfect reason for the Panthers not to do it. OK, the Lions get people (including parents, g/friends etc) travelling with them on the coach (in fact, I'm trying to make sure we've definitely got seats that I can offer some to fans for an away game) but to be honest.... that's not at the same level as the Panthers, is it? Not a good idea IMHO.

Yes true but playing Bracknell isn't so bad for Basingstoke supporters because the distance between is like us and you lot. So for those kind of trips I think there would be more travelling by car anyway, than by bus. I'm not sure about the idea of travelling with the team though. I know what I get like before I do a competition, it would probably be the same but a lot lot worse, and besides it would probably ruin my image of the team if I knew what they were like before and after a game.

me, I do gymnastics competitions. In fact I got one this weekend and I'm totally not prepared for it. But like in any sport when I travel to them or even when I get there I just blank everyone out and concentrate on what I'm gonna do and hopefully it goes well. But with me there's only like me and sometimes my dad in the car, I dunno if I could handle a bus of 20 players doing it.
having said that apparently Mike Torchia used to do a wine and cheese tasting on the bus after games, so maybe it can't be all bad.
